Student of the Year 2 is an upcoming Indian teen film directed by Punit Malhotra.[1] Produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar and Apoorva Mehta under the banner of Dharma Productions, the film will be distributed by Fox Star Studios.[2] The film stars Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday, and is the film debut of both actresses.[3][4] It is set to release on 10 May 2019.[5]

Cast

Production

The film is the sequel to Student of the Year (2012).[15] Filming started on 9 April 2018 in Dehradun.[16] The film has two debutantes — Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday. The intention of the film is not to make this a Me Too of first part, so Tiger. It’s a fresh take on the subject. It’s more about sports and action. [17]

The music of the film is composed by Vishal-Shekhar and lyrics will be by Anvita Dutt Guptan, Kumaar and Vayu.

The song of the film, "Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani" from the 1972 film Jawani Diwani originally sung by Kishore Kumar and composed by R. D. Burman has been recreated for this film by Vishal-Shekhar and sung by Vishal Dadlani and Payal Dev.[19] The song "Hook Up" is sung by Neha Kakkar & Shekhar Ravjiani.[20]

Marketing and release

The first look of the film was shown on November 20, 2017, by Karan Johar on the official page of Dharma Productions.[21] On 30 July 2018, the release date was changed from 23 November 2018 to 10 May 2019.[22][23]

Two new teaser posters were released on 10 April 2019 presenting the student look of Tiger Shroff.[24][25] Another set of two posters of Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria were released on 11 April 2019.[26] On 12 April 2019, a theatrical release poster of the film was revealed by producer Karan Johar on his Instagram account;[27] the official trailer was released later that day by Dharma Productions.[28]
