Xicotepec is a town and municipality in Puebla in central-eastern Mexico.[2] The wider region is called Sierra Norte de Puebla.
Eight state police are kidnapped by armed men in Xicotepec, Juan Galindo (municipality), on March 30, 2019. Among the victims was Benigno Valencia Pérez, who was commander of the municipal police in Venustiano Carranza a year ago.[3]

Villa Ávila Camacho, also known as La Ceiba, is a town that lies in the northeast of the municipality, on the banks of the Río San Marcos. Another nearby attraction is the Tlaxcalantongo Falls, by the town of the same name.
