CAMELOT BROADWAY

I don't know much about Wikipedia--this is a help comment, not a question, I lived in the D.C. area back in the 60's and I took a date to the National Theatre in Wash. D.C. for the Camelot Musical with Yvonne De Carlo and Arthur Treacher. After the Camelot Broadway production ended, the sets were transported to the National Theatre in D.C.--it was a wonderful production--not sure of the date we attended the production/play, but noticed on the Camelot entries the National Theatre production wasn't mentioned---so maybe you can contact the person who edited that wikipidea/camelot musical site and maybe add the National Theatre production.

Global user page

Is there any way to show my user page on English Wikipedia on every Wikipedia? I know that my user page on Meta is my global user page. But some templates and links(articles etc.) don't exist on Meta. So I want to use my English wiki user page as global user page. I also want to know how to transclude a template from English wiki to other wikis. If you reply here, please ping me by adding Masumrezarock100 to your message, and signing it. Sincerely, Masum Reza 04:11, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Masumrezarock100: You cannot. It's not possible to transclude userpage from here. You can only do so from Meta-Wiki, it's the central wiki in the set up. – Ammarpad (talk) 06:31, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Ammarpad: I see. Thanks anyway. Sincerely, Masum Reza 06:39, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Masumrezarock100: You could copy some of your user page code to Special:ExpandTemplates to produce the resulting wikitext without templates. This can be copied to meta. Some things may render differently but most will be the same. Wikilinks with no interwiki prefix will go to meta and often be red. Place w: or en: in front of a link to go to the English Wikipedia, e.g. w:Kolkata which transforms to Kolkata on save. You cannot place the meta page in Wikipedia categories but you can link the categories with the same method. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:46, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you so much for your help. Sincerely, Masum Reza 09:49, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to move an article from Draft to main space and for review?

hi,

I had published an article a few days back which has been nominated for speedy deletion and deleted after that. Then I edited a new article which is still showing in Drafts name: The Rug Republic. I want this draft to move into the main space and want to send this for review. However, I am unable to find any option to do so. Please help me out. Amalik.1705 (talk) 04:46, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Amalik.1705. This is not the Help desk, it's the talk page for the Help desk, intended for discussing the operation of the Help Desk. But I can answer you question anyway.
I assume you refer to Draft:The Rug Republic. It is blatantly promotion, and does nothing to establish that its subject is notable. It cites no references at all. If it is reviewed it will certainly be rejected, and if it is moved to main space it's likely to be deleted.
If you are here to improve Wikipedia, you should find a task that's much easier than trying to create a new article on a non-notable topic. If your purpose is to promote The Rug Republic, you should be aware that Wikipedia is not to be used for promotion; and instead use a site such as Facebook where promotion is permitted. Maproom (talk) 06:25, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The following also copied from the talkPage. Eagleash (talk) 09:59, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

• Hi Maproom, I am finding my references so that I can add them to the article. If this the problem because of that I am unable to publish my article, I'll edit them first and then send it for review. But, the issue I am facing is; the article is showing in draft and I don't have any option to move it to main space or to send it for review. I want you to help me out with this. Amalik.1705 (talk) 09:23, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Amlik.1705: The page has been deleted again as promotional (Wikipedia cannot accept promotional material) and also as copy-violation, which is something else that Wikipedia takes very seriously. If you here merely to promote a business or similar concern, you will not be succesful and would be better off using something like LinkedIn. Copy-vio and editing outside of Wiki's goals can easily lead to the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 10:10, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Cillaryan: Hello, I cannot see that the page states this (or that any recent revisions have done so). Are you seeing the results of a 'Google' search? Google often displays information in a side panel in a way that implies the information comes from Wikipedia. There is a link at the foot of the panel where you can report errors.
If you have a source for your information, you could add this to the Wikipedia article yourself. Please see WP:RS and WP:REFB. Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 10:34, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Cillaryan: Sorry, my comments above are incorrect. Seems I was looking at the wrong thing. The information in the article is sourced and therefore, unless you have a reliable source for your version, is unlikely to be removed. If you do please feel free to add as above. Thank you. @David Biddulph: Australian Dictionary of Biography reference covers William Scott Fell and David Fell. The source says that WSF was survived by his wife and that DF was survived by his second wife. However an online search for WSF's gravestone suggests that @Cillaryan: is correct and ADNB is not.TSventon (talk) 11:31, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've reverted my change. If a published source can be found to support a change, this can of course be made. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:40, 3 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Removing Image Requests

I added an Image to the page Esk River (Queensland) yesterday. It still appear in the "add an image" category on the community page. Changing a company's old Logo for a New version

Hi, How do I change the Logo for the company I work for, Guayaki Sustainable Rainforest products Inc.? The image seems to live within an Infobox template which does not seem to let me edit the current image. I seem to be able to upload to commons (i think) but not to Wikipedia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Colegagreg (talkcontribs)

Hello Colegagreg. I do not recommend uploading the image to Commons, because Commons does not allow Non-free content such as logos.  Instead I recommend using Wikipedia:Files for upload to request someone else upload and replace the image. Also, since you work for the company, please be aware that you have a conflict of interest regarding that article. Contact article originator?

How do I contact the originator of an article to ask a question? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jimb101 (talkcontribs) 03:38, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Jimb101. If the article in question was 2015 Atlantic hurricane season, you would click the "History" tab, taking you here, whereupon you would click "oldest", taking you here. Then, you would scroll to the bottom of the page to find the creator of the article. In this case, Jdorje "created" the article, as a redirect, but Typhoon2013 was the first person to write anything, so you would contact them on their user talk page.
Bear in mind that articles are group efforts, and the original author may only be a small contributor to the text you see today. A more common way of discussing an article is to use the article's own talk page.
Also note that the earliest edit history for some very old pages has been lost, so finding the name of the original author may not be possible. Also, the author may be retired, or blocked, or otherwise inactive, so contacting them may be pointless.
Hope this helps! Eman235/talk 03:56, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is this fair use?

Hi there. I have recently created some userboxes for supporters of Association Football teams ([1]https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:WBPchur/UB#Teams), but when visiting the Wikimedia commons page for one the teams' logos I noticed that it did not have a free licence. The page said the following "It is believed that the use of low-resolution images on the English-language Wikipedia, hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation, of logos for certain uses involving identification and critical commentary may qualify as fair use under the Copyright law of the United States". I believe that the userboxes I have created are fair use, but if they aren't it would be much appreciated if someone could let me know. I am still somewhat new here. Help would be much appreciated.

Definitely not fair use. There are no circumstances in which images intended for use on a userpage could ever be considered fair use. (Fails #9 of WP:NFCCP, if you want the formal policy.) ‑ Iridescent 06:36, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProjects and Special:RecentChangesLinked

Hey there. I'm wondering if there's a better way to watch over recent changes to articles pertaining to a specific WikiProject. I've been using PetScan to compile a list of articles belonging to WikiProject Iceland in order to be able to look over recent changes to articles tagged as belonging to the project (copying what WikiProject Medicine does). Since only the talk pages of articles are tagged, I can't enter the category in Special:RecentChangesLinked since that only shows changes to talk pages.

Is there a better way to look over changes in a WikiProject? Does there exist a bot like Community Tech bot (which currently compiles a list of the most popular pages) that compiles a list of all articles related to a WikiProject? I can see that Wmflabs had a tool in 2008 for watching for related changes.

It's available for a few wikis which are listed in the site's toolbar, but not currently hrwiki. I'm not certain (hopefully someone can correct me), but I think it is possible to turn on InternetArchiveBot for other wikis if you find someone to write a new configuration file for InternetArchiveBot, and then have an hrwiki admin submit a ticket on Phabricator asking to turn it on. – Þjarkur (talk) 19:38, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, we already discussed enabling IABot on hrwiki and came to a positive decision, but then no further action was taken. I'll re-open the discussion on that. Thanks for the help! In the mean time, I'll manually fix dead links on hrwiki, and use the IABot Management Interface for enwiki. --Hmxhmx 19:44, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

List of films containing frequent marijuana use

Hi!

The article 'List of films containing frequent marijuana use' should not contain the term 'frequent' as it is too ambiguous. I believe any indication of marijuana use should be listed.

I recently stated that in the film Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, Bilbo states to Gandolf, "This is good weed Gandolf" while they smoke their pipes. This is a certain indication that the term weed means marijuana. When I enter this fact on the article someone removes it. Why?

I have stopped donating to Wikipedia due to the fact that objective information can be erased without my being able to defend the validity of my observation. This is bias, and I am not sure why it's being done?

I will continue to use Wikipedia as it contains many useful articles for research, but if facts are allowed to be deleted without defense of reason then it becomes bias propaganda.

I did state on the talk board well in advance that I believe in my statement, but no one reacted, instead they just deleted my observation/fact.

Wayne

Hello Red Shield, your addition of the Lord of The Rings was reverted because the films are speaking of the fictional pipe-weed and not cannabis. Most people explain why they remove things in the edit summary, these were the explanations given at the time: [2] [3]. – Þjarkur (talk) 16:46, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
While I absolutely agree with Þjarkur about pipeweed, a more cogent reason why your addition was removed, Red Shield, is that it was unsourced. Wikipedia is not interested in what you - or I, or any random person on the Internet - knows, or thinks, or believes, unless this is backed up by a reliable published source. Please read about verifiability. --ColinFine (talk) 17:05, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am guessing then that I may insert this link as proof? Or do I have to get the Director and writer to send a formal letter about all the films listed? Here is the citation:-

[4]

Also, can we please discuss this on the talk page of the article instead of this hidden talk page? I would like other's feedback and explanations of why all the other films should not have citations to verify the fact.

Red Shield, you can cite the film to support the claim that a particular word is used in the script, yes (though not by linking to a copyright-violation, so somebody has removed the link). But that completely fails to support any particular claim as to the interpretation of the word (especially a contentious interpretation). --ColinFine (talk) 18:12, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Red Shield Wayne, the fact the characters in the book/movie are calling what they're smoking "pipe-weed" does not prove they're talking about marijuana. The fact we call it 'weed' now does not mean that was what Tolkien intended or what the writers/directors of the film intended. You'd have to find someone specifically saying, "In the LotR films, the director intended modern audiences to believe that the pipeweed smoked by Hobbits was similar to marijuana." --valereee (talk) 18:30, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I've taken this back to the article talk page, as requested by the original poster --valereee (talk) 18:46, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is no copyright breach if it is just a small portion, that's why Youtube have it on there site and it has not been removed. But you don't seem to want to acknowledge their copyyright laws - which are the same as Wiki's. Anyway, small portions are not a breach of copyright, that's what they told me when I did a media law module in my law degree, so why remove it? And why is this conversation here? Why not on the discussion pages of the article where it ow belongs?

No one seems to want to look at the fact that in other films that weed is never mentioned, but the reference is clear. I shall not be discussing it here anymore, but on the page on the talk on the article. Also, watch the clip, Bilbo calls it "weed" not "pipe-weed" as you all misrepresent.

So the trolls in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey are actually internet trolls because Tolkien used modern slang throughout his works? I think not. Clarityfiend (talk) 19:25, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and don't forget athelas, that "weed" with medicinal uses (wink wink nudge nudge). Clarityfiend (talk) 19:35, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
FWIW, Part 2 of the Prologue to the book The Lord of the Rings (originally to Volume One, The Fellowship of the Ring) is entitled Concerning Pipe-weed, which Tolkien describes as "a variety probably of Nicotiana." There is nothing whatever in the book(s) to suggest that pipe-weed is cannabis or has any of the properties of cannabis. An instance of one character in one of the derived film referring to it by the shorter term "weed" is no more significant than someone referring to tobacco as "baccy" (a common British English term). {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.2.132 (talk) 02:10, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The phrase "the dreaded weed" was commonly used by the generation born between the wars to refer to tobacco. I would suggest that Tolkein (1892 – 1973) writing between 1937 and 1949 is more likely to have this usage that the 1960s and later usage in mind. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 14:07, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Gandalf's description of the effects of the weed here [5] can be read as supportive of the molly-interpretation. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:40, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Concerning Pipe Weed: Simply tobacco, or something more? covers the topic pretty well. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:46, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Super Bowl LVIII And New NFL TV Contracts

Super Bowl LVIII will likely air on CBS because their aring Super Bowl LV now but NBC can not air 2 Super Bowls in 3 Years so that would be selfish so that means they would air Super Bowl LIX Unless they decide to pair it again for the 2026 Winter Olympics for Super Bowl LX. So I Think in the next NFL TV contracts look for CBS to air Super Bowls LVIII, LXI and LXIV. Then NBC can swap Super Bowl LIX to Fox in exchange for Super Bowls LIX, LXII and LXV. And then Fox can swap with NBC for Super Bowl LX to pair it for the 2026 Winter Olympics in exchange for Super Bowls LX, LXIII and LXVI. I Think I Could Be Right About That. 68.103.78.155 (talk) 17:29, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Chlorous anhydride article

Hi,

I've been going through Special:BrokenRedirects and Special:DoubleRedirects and on the Double Redirect section I've come across a double redirect Chlorous anhydride article which isn't an article just a redirect to Chlorous anhydride and then another redirect to Chlorous anhydride WTF! What's the protocol for this type of redirect? Could an admin have a look at it and delete those articles which only includes redirect links I was going to place a G8 deletion request but not sure on this situation. Also according to the history log only one user had edited/created the said articles for some reason and hadn't done anything to it since those redirect links and its clogging up the DoubleRedirect page. This circular redirect should probably be deleted. Ruslik_Zero 19:40, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Aldgate

Aldgate in South Australia is a town, not a suburb of Adelaide — Preceding unsigned comment added by ‎ 2001:8003:a034:7f00:e14e:5766:8ea8:4d55 (talkcontribs) 4 May 2019 22:10 (UTC)

Thank you for noting, but be aware that the appropriate place to mention the oversight is on the Talk page of the article with the error.--Quisqualis (talk) 22:41, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The opening sentence of Aldgate, South Australia states "Aldgate is a South Australian town and suburb of Adelaide". There is a source in the article for this statement. Eagleash (talk) 22:48, 4 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The source for that is not the most reliable though, being reports of real estate agents' comments. It refers to Aldgate as a "Hills suburb", which leads me to wonder whether they were conflating Adelaide suburbs with the Adelaide Hills region. Other towns in the Hills region, such as Mount Barker which is the largest, are not refered to as Adelaide suburbe. This question has already been raised at Talk:Aldgate, South Australia and if it can't be resolved there you might like to refer to WikiProject Australia.--Gronk Oz (talk) 04:04, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
A bit more research - the LGA.SA government web site here lists the Adelaide Hills LGA as being part of "Metropolitan Adelaide". So Aldgate is a suburb in the Adelaide Hills LGA, which in turn is in Adelaide Metro. That sounds to me like it qualifies as being a suburb of Adelaide.--Gronk Oz (talk) 04:34, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

JS page not working as desired

For a good while, one of the components of my monobook.js page hasn't been working as desired, and another one is being intermittent today after working normally as long as I can remember. Any suggestions? The last significant change was in November 2017; I reverted it a moment ago, tested component #1 and found that it still wasn't working, and reverted my reversion.

Feature #1 — the bit below Wait for the page to be ready is supposed to affect the appearance of pages that transclude Infobox NRHP. The infobox takes the number appearing in its refnum parameter and automatically links it to a database entry, which is generally useful, but the link gets in my way, so I requested assistance with hiding it. For a while now (months? a year or two?), the link's been back, and I don't know how to hide it. It's not the November 2017 edit, because when I reverted it and viewed a page transcluding this infobox, the link was still there.

Feature #2 — I'm supposed to get the old "You have new messages!" orange bar when someone edits my talk. I got four notifications in the last day or two and noticed them three times (i.e. two were close enough that I didn't view my talk page before the first and after the second), but the only notices I ever got were the red "1" and the mini-orange new-messages bit that everyone gets. Not what's supposed to happen, but when I used my public-sock to edit my talk page, I got the message as desired. All the no-bar messages were from User:MediaWiki message delivery or User:DannyS712 bot; should I imagine that bots and non-bots are treated differently for notification purposes?

In case you're wondering: I've been using IE 11 for a good while now (a couple of years or more), and I've never used anything but Monobook. Nyttend (talk) 00:39, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PS, the infobox link isn't the fault of the browser; I've opened Chrome and am editing with it, and the link is still visible. Nyttend (talk) 00:44, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

For number one, try changing 'Reference' to 'reference', an edit in 2017 changed the capitalisation Danski454 (talk) 09:12, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How do I add a name to your "recipients of Distinguished flying cross"

My uncle received an distinguished flying cross during world war II and his name is not on your list. I have his discharged paperwork stating he received it for proof. How do I get his name added? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thomaskielar (talkcontribs)

Sorry, but it's not a list of all DFC recipients. It's list of all recipients who have an article here in the English Wikipedia. Only "notable" people have articles, and the award of the DFC is not by itself to meet our "notability" guidelines. See WP:N. -Arch dude (talk) 16:11, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Of course, if your uncle can meet the Notability criteria for reasons other than having been awarded the DFC, a Wikipedia article could be created about him, and his wikilinked (hence blue) name could then be added to the DFC list article. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.2.132 (talk) 18:32, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

there needs to be more legendary /mythical pokemon articles because what if this happened: some kid didnt know about the legendary/mythical pokemon so he went on the rayquaza article on wikipedia he read until the part where it said the words "groudon" and "kyogre" he didnt know who they were and he would never know who they were because there isnt a wikipedia page for them so please make more legendary/mythical pokemon articles — Preceding unsigned comment added by Captain Yoshi (talkcontribs)

Back in the early days of Wikipedia there were actually more articles on individual Pokemon. As Wikipedia grew and matured and standards for notability were refined, it was decided that many of these items were sot sufficiently notable for stand-alone articles. I note that both of the terms you mention are in fact redirects that point to List of generation III Pokémon, which is probably more than sufficient coverage. I'm pretty sure nobody has told you to get a customized signature. I have never seen anyone be asked to do that. It's something users do on their own initiative if they want it. Most users have the default signature like me. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:00, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Is this promotion?

I noticed that a user seems to be connected to a particular journal (including having an account rename after the original account name was blocked for being related to the name the journal), and has been adding (admittedly relevant) references to that journal to articles even after the rename. I know I'm supposed to AGF, but that seems like stealth advertising, even if well-intentioned. Does this count as promotional, or is it an acceptable action? Being deliberately vague because I'm not sure if it's appropriate to name specific users here. creffett (talk) 20:06, 5 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is no picture on the Wikipedia Tim Cossins page. You probably saw a picture presented by Google. We have no control over what Google shows and they did not get this from us, but you can inform them by clicking on the tiny little grey "feedback" link at the bottom right under their summary. -Arch dude (talk) 02:02, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's exactly what happened. If you google Tim Cossins, you see the photo from this article. 6 The best way to fix this would be to add a better photo of him. Do you want to contact him and ask him for a better photo? TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 22:47, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That will probably work, but not because of us. We have simply observed that Google tends to prefer to use pictures from Wikimedia Commons that are used in our Wikipedia articles, when we have them. They use other pictures when we do not have a picture. We cannot force Google to use a new picture that you add here and we have no interest in informing Google of this type of error: that's up to the subject of the Google summary or some interested party. -Arch dude (talk) 00:48, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

How to see all new articles tagged for a particular WikiProject?

Hi, I'm interested in seeing all new articles whose talk pages are tagged with the template of a specific WikiProject. Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks, Philepitta (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:38, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe, User:AlexNewArtBot might be able to help (I'm not that sure)? On the bot's page it says "The bot looks at New Articles and puts relevant articles into the New Articles lists of Portals and Projects. The goal is to help editors find new articles related to their areas of interest.". I'm not sure how exactly the bot works though (maybe someone who reads this could help Philepitta on how to use the bot?). There could be other ways to do so though... 173.52.238.41 (talk) 06:38, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the reply. As far as I could tell, AlexNewArtBot only works for a subset of wikiprojects, and it does some kind of textual analysis of new articles to test if they are likely to relate to each project (rather than just collating articles that have the WikiProject template on their talk page). I found a bot User:AAlertBot that gives notifications of some classes of events that relate to a specific wiki project (like AfD's, DYK's, etc), but it doesn't seem to list new articles tagged with the project template. So, I'm still not sure if there's a way to do that? Thanks, Philepitta (talk) 23:40, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There doesn't appear to be a general bot that does this. The only bot I've found which would help (if configured for it) is EncMstrBot, whose current task is only to update a list of articles in WikiProject Oregon. By watchlisting such a list you could watch for updates. (This is related to my thread above).
Does someone know if I could submit a bot-request to keep such a list updated for more WikiProjects, or is it likely to be denied for wastefully creating 300KB pages? – Þjarkur (talk) 23:54, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's already an article alert page for each WikiProject from AAlertBot (for example, Wikipedia:WikiProject_Liberia/Article_alerts or Wikipedia:WikiProject_Composers/Article_alerts); I wonder if new articles could just be added to the alerts? I just asked about this at at Wikipedia_talk:Article_alerts/Feature_requests#Is_there_a_way_to_see_articles_newly_tagged_with_a_specific_Wikiproject_template? Or do you think it would be better to have this kind of list as a separate page for each project as in the WikiProject Oregon list, since it might be lengthy for larger wikiprojects? Thanks, Philepitta (talk) 01:13, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Dealing with vandalism-only account

Hi,

there's a user named Murca-editor17 that has only edited the Joe Biden 2020 presidential campaign article. The majority of their edits (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Murca-editor17) are vandalism, as can be seen in this edit: [7], for example. What is the best way to deal with the recurring vandalism by this particular user?

Thank you, David O. Johnson (talk) 03:45, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

David O. Johnson: see WP:AIV. Usually, one would wait until a "final warning" had been given (Murca's had only two so far), but in this case, given this is the only thing they've ever done (and they've done it a lot), it should be fine to report them and see what the admins think. Sock puppetry

Hello. (Q1) Is it considered Wikipedia:Sock puppetry if a logged in User:OkayKenji (me) decides to no longer use the account and instead just use their IP Address to edit Wikipedia? (not to take any sides, I just don't want to use my account anymore). (Q2) Also, I didn't know about puppetry when I edited [8] where I commented both as an IP and as my logged in account as well as [9] (for this I propsed name change with IP, but also commented as a logged in user). Would I be accused of sock puppetry where I did not intend to do so? Thanks! 173.52.238.41 (talk) 06:25, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Intent is everything. As long as you have not used multiple identities (either registered users or IPs) to mislead other users, or to try to circumvent Wikipedia's policies, nobody is going to object. Just noting you've changed an article and saying thanks on the talk page is harmless (although people may wonder why you're thanking them).
Wikipedia:Sock puppetry says "it is improper to use multiple accounts... to deceive or mislead other editors, disrupt discussions, distort consensus, avoid sanctions, evade blocks, or otherwise violate community standards and policies. Rojomoke (talk) 14:12, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As you've explained the situation here, and also on the talk page of that article, I wouldn't expect any comeback. If you really feel the need for a new username there are several possibilities as explained on Wikipedia:Changing username, but I'd be inclined to look at Maproom's advice on your own talk page and just carry on using your existing account. That is probably the best way to avoid any further complications: Bhunacat10 (talk), 14:25, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Help with disambiguation page

I started to create a redirect ABIA, for the Australian Book Industry Awards article which I have just created. As you will see, there is already one redirecting to Austin–Bergstrom International Airport. I then inadvertently searched on Abia and found the disambiguation page for that. Should the capitalised version redirect to this page, and the disambiguation page include both versions of the acronyms and words there, or should there be separate pages for capitalised and non-capitalised? I can't seem to find a clear direction about this in MOS:DAB. Laterthanyouthink (talk) 07:59, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Laterthanyouthink Thanks for the new article. Normal practice is to include varying capitalisations on the same DAB page (see WP:DABCOMBINE). So I'd redirect ABIA to Abia, and in Abia insert a new entry under "Other uses" and change the top line to read "Abia or ABIA may refer to:": Bhunacat10 (talk), 14:34, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, great, thanks for that, Bhunacat10. I thought that that seemed like the most sensible course of action, but thought that I'd better make sure first. I'll fix it up tomorrow. CSD A7 lag problem

Often the list of pages in CSD categories, seen on the right here, is in lag. Refreshing the page normally fixes that. Lately, the A7 category always has one more page than it should even after refreshing. I can't figure out what's wrong.--Bbb23 (talk) 13:54, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Bbb23, I've gone through the template generating the box, I can't find the cause of the issue. Perhaps adding and removing a page from the category might fix it? I don't know all the ins and outs of the software, but maybe it will work? WelpThatWorked (talk) 16:18, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Bbb23: produces 0. At the time of writing it says "2" while Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as importance or significance not asserted only displays one page Mind Studios. Category counts are often off. It appears to mainly happen when a page is deleted while it is in the category. I don't know a fix. phab:T18036 is from 2008 and still unresolved. There have been many other reports. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:45, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, for me at least - and I patrol CSD a fair amount - a refresh gives you the correct number. It's only been lately that it's off by one all the time. Maybe it's just coincidence, and "nothing has changed". In any event, it's an annoyance more than anything else. Thanks for the response.--Bbb23 (talk) 20:51, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
• My two cents: I haven't seen numbers of pages in csd categories matching numbers displayed for several weeks, so I've come to take that for granted (e.g. the CSD Categories display may say there are 19 candidates for speedy deletion as abandoned drafts while that category may be empty or have very few). – Athaenara 02:09, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

La La Anthony Wikipedia Page

I am contacting you as I am unable to edit La La Anthony's Wikipedia page to correct some information on there that is false. If you would allow for me to edit or contact me so I can assist you with the edit this would be much appreciated. Looking forward to your response. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Macabeep (talkcontribs) 19:30, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss this on the talk page of the article. There may have been some attempts to falsify a year of birth. Most reliable sources say that she will turn 40 this year. Dbfirs 19:36, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I found an entry that I believe is incorrect. I created a talk page entry with my evidence (sorry primary research).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Mathematics/Did_you_know/70

This entry claims that a certain set of integers are all prime.

Unfortunately, Wolfram Mathematica 12 can factor most of them.

I wrote a talk page for the item.

What do I do next? If anything. — Preceding unsigned comment added by NumberRI (talkcontribs) 23:52, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I think you mis-interpreted the statement. "consecutive prime numbers" are by definition all prime. You mis-interpreted the statement to means "consecutive odd numbers." Perhaps you should suggest that the DYK be explained a little better. Two number are "consecutive primes" iff there are no intervening primes. -Arch dude (talk) 23:57, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I think you're right, Arch dude. I find it very strange that such a page - with no source - should appear anywhere in Wikipedia. --ColinFine (talk) 08:15, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimedia Tags and Wikimedia Labs

Hello all, I have two questions. Can someone please tell me

1. How in Wikimedia database https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:Database_layout you can find when an article was created? 2. Where the wikimedia-labs forum is now https://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=wikimedia-labs? It says something that it's a private invite by herbert.freenode.net, but I'm not sure how this work?

Thanks! Tom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tomthirteen (talkcontribs) 00:20, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sol Pais

Is she worth of an article? The FL teen infatuated with Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold?

Thank you! LLcentury (talk) 03:51, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@LLcentury: The guidance for this is at Wikipedia:Notability (people)#People notable for only one event. -Arch dude (talk) 05:05, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cats in the Sandbox

Hello! I removed categories from my sandbox as requested by other users, and I'm not sure if that caused any of the problems like this other thing, but I seem to have left a trail. One for example is that [10] now lists my sandbox as a page which with that shared image. How may I remedy this? Thanks in advance. -Davidlwinkler (talk) 08:39, 7 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
