Rank and privilege

[edit]

There's not that much to it - the only real divide between users is that some of us are "admins", who have a few janitorial abilities that normal users don't, most noticeably the ability to block users and delete unwanted articles (although both these actions have proper processes that must be followed, and misuse of process will get an admin's status rescinded). The role of the admin is outlined at WP:ADMIN, but as Jimmy Wales says in the article, "becoming a sysop is *not a big deal*". There are groups of editors who attend to particular issues (the Arbitration Committee, the Audit Subcommittee), but everyone is - at least theoretically - of equal status, and shouldn't pull rank on anyone else. That's how I see it, anyway. Welcome aboard! --McGeddon (talk) 18:44, 3 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]
