Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho (transl. Miss Tanakpur, be present) is a 2015 Indian Hindi political satire film directed by Vinod Kapri. Inspired by true events, the film is centered on a man accused of sexually molesting a buffalo. Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho features Rahul Bagga and Annu Kapoor in leading roles, with Om Puri, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, and Hrishita Bhatt playing supporting roles. Produced by Vinay Tiwari, it was released in India on 26 June 2015.

Plot

Sualaal was the head of the village Tanakpur. He was wealthy chauvinist, impotent and was married at the old age to his wife Maya, who was much younger than him. They tend to ignore each other. Arjun, however, a young lad of the village, met Maya and won her heart and they met each other when Sualaal was not around. Arjun's father gave up his lifetime's savings so that he could secure a job in the Police force. Sualaal suspected his wife Maya of being unfaithful but he could never able to prove anything. He became anguish over the fact that his wife mocked him for being impotent by having an affair. One day one of his cronies caught Maya and Arjun together. Arjun received severe tortures for this. On the day of his sister's wedding when everyone was at the wedding, Arjun sneakef into Sualaal's home to meet Maya. When Saulaal couldn't find Arjun at the wedding hall, he immediately headed to his home and severely inflicted pain on him. He was, however, restrained by his servants. Then they told him that if he created a scene, people would come to know about his wife's affair and this would bring shame on him. So he decided to frame Arjun in a rape case of his buffalo "Miss Tanakpur". All the evidence are forged and Saulaal wanted to make sure that Arjun to be punished. Initially, everyone dismissed this as a shame, but then Sualaal bribed his way and got the case registered by the police. Arjun was then taken into police custody. That brought shame and grief to his family. His sister's wedding was cancelled. His father went on a hunger strike and died in the process. The police severely beat him and when he was brought in front of a court, the judges ordered prosecution to present the victim, Miss Tanakpur.

On their way to the next court hearing, Miss Tanakapur had an accident and she was severely injured. At this moment everyone was apathetic towards her, only Arjun was being sympathetic towards her. On the third court hearing, Miss Tanakpur was brought to the court. The judge asks the police to do verification based on identification marks mentioned in the FIR and it was found that it was not the real Miss Tanakpur. The judge annoyed and chided the prosecutor for the fracas.Saulaal sold the buffalo to someone before filling a case .With great difficulty, they were able to locate her and bring her back to the police station. Meanwhile, Sualaal was not happy with the developments in court and decided to further inflict pain on Arjun's family. He announced that as a form of penance ,Arjun would have to marry Miss Tanakpur. Maya was not able to bear this and offered to expose her husband. Arjun refused her, said that the truth would drag her into this murky business and he didn't want her to suffer a similar fate. Throughout the ordeal, Arjun was symhathetic towards Miss Tanakpur. On the day of the wedding, Saulaal brought Miss Tanakpur from the police for the night. As the wedding was going on, she ran away and no one was able to trace her. This was a sort of reflection of the care and affection shown by Arjun. On subsequent court hearings, the police were not able to produce her, which means that the police officer investigating the case was suspended. In order to exact his revenge, the police officer revealed the truth in the court and Saulaal along with his cronies are sent to jail. Arjun is lucky to be acquitted from the case and all the embarrassment he has faced.

Release

The film was originally scheduled to be released on 19 June 2015, but was postponed, as director Vinod Kapri wanted to avoid conflict with the film ABCD 2, which was also set for release on 19 June. It was eventually released on 26 June 2015.

Production

Director Vinod Kapri explained that the film is a political satire loosely based on a real event in Rajasthan, in which the state high court sentenced a boy to jail for allegedly raping a buffalo. Kapri chose to set the film in Haryana instead, because he liked the language of Haryanvi. The film has a mix of Hindi and Haryanvi-language dialogues.
