Richard L. McCormick is the current (2004) President of Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. He resides in Piscataway, New Jersey and has been president since November 2002. Prior to taking this position he was President of the University of Washington in Seattle, WA for 7 years. He was born in 1947 and raised in Piscataway, less than 2 miles from where he currently resides. In the summer when he was growing up, he would swim at the Faculty Swim Club which is located just behind the Rutgers presidential residence. He is currently married to Suzanne Lebsock (full professor in Women's History at Rutgers)and has two children, Betsy McCormick (a sophomore at Harvard)and Michael McCormick (a sophomore in Peddie High School).
