The term Beautiful Soup originates with Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and a song Beautiful Soup sung by the Mock Turtle during the Lobster Quadrille chapter.

It has since been used elsewhere:

Music

  • Australian composer Leon Coward's "Beautiful Soup" (2014) a lament for piano, string orchestra and vocal ensemble.

Computing

  • Beautiful Soup (HTML parser), a HTML parser written in the Python programming language. The name is used as an ironic contrast to 'tag soup', the unstructured and almost unparseable HTML found on most websites.
