Purpose

My purpose in contributing is to add to the conversations on Wikipedia, specifically about the Hawaiian Islands in the 19th and 20th centuries.

Background

My perspective on Hawai‘i history is largely through a family lens, as my ancestors lived and worked in the Islands for generations. In researching and writing about family history, I have discovered personal stories that tie into the larger history of Hawai‘i, some of which have an impact on commonly-held knowledge.

Professionally, I began writing in 2007 as an information analyst and later published books, wrote freelance for magazines and digital publications, and maintained a personal lifestyle blog, among other projects.
