    How to change the language

I want to change the text to malayalam — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2405:204:D486:443:DE58:9B77:2AC0:5615 (talk) 00:18, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hire someone to write about my organisation

Hi, I want to hire some member of wikipidia to write an article for me on wikipidia. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Attornist (talkcontribs) 01:01, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Attornist: That's not something you can use Wikipedia to do, you will need to do so elsewhere. I would also urge you to proceed carefully and not immediately hand over any money. Anyone you hire cannot make any guarantees(such as guaranteeing they will write an article that will not be deleted). They will also need to declare their association with you and that you are paying them per the conflict of interest and paid editing policies.
Also note that you would only merit an article on Wikipedia if you meet the notability criteria for biographies; there are also more specific criteria for certain professions(politicians, athletes, musicians, etc.). This is not social media where everyone can have a page. 331dot (talk) 01:11, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Every politician who has competently completed an election on any level at least once can have an undeletable page, though. Anybody struggling for in-depth independent coverage but legitimately interesting or useful to general audiences might consider winning some small seat. Could resign immediately, if governance isn't appealing. You'd still need sources for your content, but your name would last forever. InedibleHulk (talk) 02:15, June 17, 2019 (UTC)
As the others have indicated, Attornist, that is a bad idea. If Wikipedia has an article about your organisation, it will not be your article (or your organisation's), it will not say what you want it to say, and you will have no control over the content. If you're looking for a way to increase your online presence, Wikipedia is emphatically not the place to do it.
As for hiring: paid editing is not forbidden, but it is set about with restrictions, and many editors (myself included) look on it with suspicion. A Wikipedia article should be written for the benefit of Wikipedia, and absolutely nobody and nothing else. --ColinFine (talk) 09:23, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Definition of fascism

Curious why definition of fascism contains " right wing?" Authoritarian, totalitarian governments can be left or right. Please update since locked and cannot edit. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.18.44.230 (talk) 01:31, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! Please leave a request on the talk page of the article (you can get to it by clicking on the Talk tab at the top of the article), along with a reliable source WP:RS that mentions left wing fascism. Thank you! Orville1974 (talk) 01:40, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
No. This has many been discussed many times and a minority source will not change the consensus. See the red box at top of Talk:Fascism. Of course authoritarian, totalitarian governments can be left wing, but the term fascim indicates right wing. Some people use it as a general slur but Wikipedia gives the political meaning. Murali Kumar (dubbing artist)

I have small doubt. If we have many celebritities for same named as Karthik for a example We create Karthi (actor), Singer, director etc for their profession give the title. Then under which heading should the dubbing artist or Voice actor/actress. Please clear my doubt User:ScarlettDeepa94 1:35 , 17 June 2019 (UTC)

@ScarlettDeepa94: We only use descriptions like "(dubbing artist)" to distinguish between article subjects with the same name. We only have one article about the name "Murali Kumar" so I have moved Murali Kumar (dubbing artist) to Murali Kumar. PrimeHunter (talk) 08:19, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Some other dubbing artiste here their name as Priya Anand, Karthikeyan, Adithya how to create the article and under which heading should gives the person, please mentioned it, and what is the perfect label for the persons dubbing artist or voice actor/actress. please clarifying. User:ScarlettDeepa94 08:40, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@ScarlettDeepa94: Please sign your posts with ~~~~. This automatically adds a correct UTC time stamp. "(voice actor)" is the common English term but if "(dubbing artist)" is more common in India then I suppose you can use that for Indian voice actors when disambiguation from other articles is needed. PrimeHunter (talk) 09:02, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Considering we don't have an article for dubbing artist, voice actor should be the disambiguator in my opinion. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 09:08, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. I did some general cleanup too. As a note, any time a | is seen within a template (such as {{cite web}}, it starts a new parameter. In this case, it tried to think |charity was a parameter, and that's why it was confused. I changed this to simply Qube, as the rest of the information is irrelevent to the source. Help editing a Wikipedia company page

    Hello Wikipedia editors,

I have left a message on the 'Talk' function of the 'SITAONAIR' company page last month, but have yet to receive a response (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:SITAOnAir ) . I appreciate that this may be due to errors in my use of the talk page, so I'm looking for some guidance.

For transparency, I am a PR professional, paid by the company SITAONAIR – so I am obviously prohibited from making changes directly. This account has been set up specifically with the intention to correct inaccuracies and update information on the SITAONAIR page: SITAOnAir.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Removing a page from a hidden category

Sorry to bother you guys/girls, but I need to know how to remove a page from a hidden category. For example, if a page in the category "Wikipedia articles needing copy edit" is copy edited and requires no more corrections, how do you remove it from the category? Bill Williams (talk) 15:11, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@LilBillWilliams: To remove it from the category you just remove the template that puts it into the category, so in this case you would remove the {{copy edit}} template. Help:Maintenance template removal should tell you more. DuncanHill (talk) 15:16, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
The category page often says which templates add the category. Category:Wikipedia articles needing copy edit does this. Hidden categories are not technically different from other categories but in Wikipedia they are usually added by templates. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:15, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    To pay attention

I have posted a request on Talk page of Shamsheer Vayalil, regarding to add his residence and occupation column in his Wikipedia Infobox. I have also provided links from where these information can be extracted. But an editor is playing with me, he says that I provided incorrect link. So, I request other editors to look in this matter and to add the desired information. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.129.225 (talk) 16:07, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss your concerns on the talk page. I reviewed the article and removed the sentence about you being a paid editor because the reporting said you testified that the payment was unsolicited, and I'm assuming good faith. And thank you for discussing this rather than trying to edit the article yourself. Other editors apparently spent a good amount of time identifying and blocking multiple accounts that were suspiciously editing the article. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 22:27, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    1. You need to recognise that Wikipedia is edited by volunteers all around the world. That means that a particular volunteer may only be able to edit for perhaps an hour in any one of the 24 time zones. TimTempleton replied to you at 22:27 yesterday yet you complained here at 00:44. You then demanded action at 13:00 on the talk page and back here at 13:48.
    2. You have been apparently editing as GoldLilydog, 2607:FEA8:C360:C3:7034:60A4:AE46:9091 and 2607:FEA8:C360:C3:99F7:DB71:6772:B707. How do we know that they are the same person?
    3. How do we know that you are the real Mark Bourrie? This is (in part) why we require independent verification of facts.
    4. Please always sign your edits by adding four tildes: ~~~~.
    5. Arbitration requests are at WP:ARBREQ as you would have found out by entering "arbitration" into Wiki's search box. Please note however that "A request for arbitration is the last step of dispute resolution". Martin of Sheffield (talk) 14:41, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Reviving a Wikiproject

Hello, Hope you are all doing well. One of the Wikiprojects which I am quite fond of has fell quite a bit into a state of dormancy since...er...2010. I am looking towards dedicating substantial time to restore this Wikiproject to its former glory, along with its members, team, logos, etc. The leader of the Wikiproject has been inactive for 9 years now and unfortunately there's no sign of him coming back. Would there be a way to take over the Wikiproject? Thanks. Regards, DoctorSpeed ✉️ —Preceding undated comment added 18:16, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

...and as a consequence, there is no "taking over" to be done. List yourself as participant, watchlist the relevant pages, edit articles etc. and voilà - there is an active contributor to the project. TigraanClick here to contact me 14:50, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Elijah Daniel recently bought the town of Hell, Michigan and renamed it Gay Hell, but when I changed it my Change was reported for vandalism, can you please help? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Esalzano (talkcontribs) 20:51, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Esalzano: Hello. Plase discuss the change on the article's talk page. Thank you. — Lauritz Thomsen (talk) 20:54, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
    • The article has now been EC protected two months by User:Swarm; two users have been blocked. That should help with the enthusiastic renaming of the town to 'Gay Hell' by new users. I'll leave a ping for User:VoltronUniverse since they have been one of the people adding 'Gay' to the article text. There is a problem with making unsourced changes. A rapper and Youtuber named Elijah Daniel has been saying that he became mayor of Hell for a day and has used his temporary authority to rename the town to 'Gay Hell'. This appears to be a sort of a joke and would need to be handled with due weight, if confirmed by reliable sources. We do have reliable sources confirming that Daniel *made* the statement; the press seems to be treating that as a human interest item. The report has achieved some currency, presumably as a tongue-in-cheek item. If we want to add this information to the actual article on Hell, Michigan we should get it from a source which is doing more than repeating Daniel's own announcement. EdJohnston (talk) 19:05, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Ending conflict of interest

I stated that I had a conflict of interest with a company a few years ago. At the time I was a paid contractor with the company.

However, this conflict ended a couple of years ago when the company reorganized. I am no longer either an employee or contractor, or associated with the company - other than being a fan of what they are doing.

Since this conflict no longer exists, how do I get this removed?

    Thanks.

PS: I do still have a conflict with the other company listed on my account as I am still a paid contractor with them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Conquestde (talkcontribs) 22:59, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Conquestde: You should not completely remove it (since you did have a conflict at one time, and anyone looking at your past contributions made during that time frame should still be aware of your past paid editing status). Rather, you can change the disclaimer to identify the period in time that you were a paid editor for them. Orville1974 (talk) 01:15, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Anonymous sources

Should I add a source that has anonymous sources? For example if New York Times interviewed an anonymous person would that be reliable and be included in the article.Manabimasu (talk) 23:15, 17 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Manabimasu: Your source would be the New York Times article itself (you could include in the Wikipedia article, "according to an anonymous source" then whatever they said, then the citation linking it to the New York Times if you wanted to clarify that the source the NYT was reporting from was anonymous). Orville1974 (talk) 01:10, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Manabimasu: Just to clarify a bit: you should use secondary sources (here, the NYT), not primary sources (here, whoever the anonymous source is). What gives credence to the information is not who provided it in the first place, but the fact that the NYT (a newspaper with a fairly good track record for fact-checking) published it (assuming it is an investigative piece, not something from the opinion column). Hi @LilBillWilliams: You're not a bother. I'm glad you asked the question. Since the requested account's home is the English Wikipedia (here), they've been inactive since 2013, and they've had zero contributions: [1], the name change should process should be pretty smooth. Just follow the process here: WP:USURP. The instructions are right above the blue button (basically you'll click the blue button to start the request, enter BobRoberts in place of where you see TARGETNAME, and enter a reason in place of where you see YOUR REASON, then click the publish changes button). Split Bangkok Article

I felt that the following paragraph (its one footnote removed), from the article on Bangkok, should be split. Could anyone please provide me with suggestions as to where? I think the sentence starting with "[f]ollowing" would be best. (I split it there at first, then undid the edit and decided to get feedback here first - twice, because of an accidental edit. Sorry about that, and this long-winded explanation.)--Thylacine24 (talk) 03:59, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Thylacine24: - (sorry to edit directly, think it looked simpler) - you are definitely right it should be split at that point. But it could just as well be split into 3 paragraphs, and like in many histories, WW2 makes a good breakpoint.
"Bangkok's economy gradually expanded through international trade, first with China, then with Western merchants returning in the early to-mid 19th century. As the capital, Bangkok was the centre of Siam's modernization as it faced pressure from Western powers in the late-19th century. The reigns of Kings Mongkut (Rama IV, 1851–68) and Chulalongkorn (Rama V, 1868–1910) saw the introduction of the steam engine, printing press, rail transport and utilities infrastructure in the city, as well as formal education and healthcare. Bangkok became the centre stage for power struggles between the military and political elite as the country abolished absolute monarchy in 1932.
Allied with Japan in World War II, it was subjected to Allied bombing, but rapidly grew in the post-war period as a result of US aid and government-sponsored investment. Bangkok's role as a US military R&R destination boosted its tourism industry as well as firmly establishing it as a sex tourism destination. Disproportionate urban development led to increasing income inequalities and migration from rural areas into Bangkok; its population surged from 1.8 million to 3 million in the 1960s.
Following the US withdrawal from Vietnam in 1973, Japanese businesses took over as leaders in investment, and the expansion of export-oriented manufacturing led to growth of the financial market in Bangkok. Rapid growth of the city continued through the 1980s and early 1990s, until it was stalled by the 1997 Asian financial crisis. By then, many public and social issues had emerged, among them the strain on infrastructure reflected in the city's notorious traffic jams. Template error

    Hi,

I added the number of seats held to this article: Long Live Tunisia in the infobox and I get this error:

    <div style="background-color: #A91101; width: Expression error: Unexpected < operator%; height: 100%;">

How can I fix it? Thanks! David O. Johnson (talk) 04:55, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed @David O. Johnson: Hi! I was looking at Template:Infobox Tunisian political party that's used on that page and it looks like for the seat parameter it says "The current number of seats the party holds in the Assembly of Representatives. Write the number only." So for this particular template we don't need to use the Composition bar template. OkayKenG (talk) 05:34, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Translating wikipedia

I am trying to translate articles from english pages to the malayalam page. How can I identify the articles that need translation? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Byjuvtvm (talkcontribs) 07:52, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Byjuvtvm: there was about 58,000 pages on the Malayalam Wikipedia as of August 2018 compared to nearly 6 million on the English Wikipedia. This means that the vast majority of articles you find haven’t been translated, but you can check by searching the Malayam Wikipedia before translating. @Byjuvtvm:You can take a look at content translation on Malayam Wikipedia. There is a suggestion tab that recommends some artcles for translation. --94rain Talk 09:19, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Verified Editors Issue

    Hello!

Please allow me to present myself. I am the Digital Director working in a reputable advertising agency in Lebanon. We have created a Wikipedia account to one of our clients AM Bank and reached the publication phase. Since we are still not verified editors, we couldn't publish the content online, although all is ready and approved by the client.

Can you please advise, on how we can proceed? The client is following-up continuously and we need to get back to them on this matter.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

Reva Berbari — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.110.101.90 (talk) 11:14, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Before wasting any more of your, or your client's, time you need to read WP:PAID, WP:COI and WP:NOTE. Then ask yourself if your client is notable (in Wiki's terms) and are there third party references for all facts. Finally, it doesn't matter a jot whether the article has been approved by your client, once published it may be edited by anyone. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 11:19, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! After following Martin of Sheffield's advice regarding the steps you'll need to take regarding disclosing your paid contributor status and conflict of interest, if this is the same bank as AmBank, there is already an article published on Wikipedia. The links provided above will guide you on how to request changes (with reliable third-party sources WP:RS) on the talk page of the article: Talk:AmBank. Orville1974
Nevermind, that appears to be a different bank group based in Malaysia. (talk) 11:28, 18 June 2019 (UTC). Updated. Orville1974 (talk) 11:32, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@El cid, el campeador: Thanks for the link. Reva Berbari, as it stands the article has no chance of making it to main space. There are no independent reference other than the government list of banks, the bank's own web and facebook pages are not independent. It also reads like a promotional page, not a neutral assessment of the bank. WP is not social media, it summarises what third parties have said about the subject of the page. Eldorado poem by Edgar Allen Poe

Just wanted you to know (I don't know how to add this to the comment section of the poem) that the last part of the poem the paragraph "Over the mountain(s) of the Moon" was featured in an Airwolf episode Season 3, "Airwolf 2" as the location for Kaitlyn (Delrado's Canyon), Hawke and ArchAngel discover the note left behind after she was taken from Santini Air. Hawke begins with "Over the mountain of the moon, down in the valley of the shadow", and ArchAngel finishes "Ride, boldly ride,’ The shade replied,‘If you seek for Eldorado!" Hawke then says "Delrado's canyon". Hawke then contacts Dominic in the Airwolf's lair, tells him they've taken Kate and asks him if he knows where the canyon is, Dominic says "sure" and Hawke tells him "..meet me there and bring the lady" — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brubik5575 (talkcontribs) 14:08, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I suspect, based on your question, that you found one of our over 6.9 million articles and thought we were affiliated in some way with that subject. Please note that you are at Wikipedia, the free online encyclopedia that anyone can edit, and this page is for asking questions related to using or contributing to Wikipedia itself. Thus, we have no special knowledge about the subject of your question. You can, however, search our vast catalogue of articles by typing a subject into the search field on the upper right side of your screen. If you cannot find what you are looking for, we have a reference desk, divided into various subject areas, where asking knowledge questions is welcome. Best of luck. Willbb234 (talk) 15:17, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Willbb234: I think it's unlikely that Brubik5575 thinks we are affiliated with Edgar Allan Poe, who died in 1849. I think it's much more likely that they are proposing an addition to the article Eldorado (poem).
@Brubik5575: Wikipedia articles don't have comment sections, but this is the encyclopaedia that anyone can edit, and you are encouraged to be bold and add the material yourself. You should know, however, that information added to Wikipedia articles is required to be cited to a reliable source. You may also wish to read our guidelines on Citing sources and Identifying reliable sources. I think it's unlikely that such a source could be found to support the material you're proposing, though I'd be happy to be proven wrong. – Arms & Hearts (talk) 15:53, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Inability to edit one specific article - how comes? How to return to editing?

By missunderstanding my GIF was deleted from article "Headphones". Now the GIF is restored in Commons (property rights for the image confirmed), but I cannot restore it in the article because this particular article has no "Edit source" tag for me - instead I see "View source". For other articles the editing option is still available. What needs to be done to return to editing of the article and restoring the information deleted by mistake? Thank you in advance for explanation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WearablesLover (talkcontribs) 14:15, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The article has been semi-protected, as can be seen from the padlock in the top right hand corner of the article. This prevents IP addresses and non-confirmed accounts from editing and making changes to it. Alternatively, you could post an edit request on the Talk:Headphones talk page which has not been protected. Chaheel Riens (talk) 14:33, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Boaty McBoatface - references within notes

The naming section of Boaty McBoatface contains the sentence "These incidents suggest there is still a clear deficit in understanding how to engage crowds and avoid failures and demonstrate the backlash from NERC’s neglecting the crowd’s choice, which resulted in a sophisticated reaction in other campaigns" - which is backed up by a reference note. However, the reference note itself contains references. Is this an acceptable way of doing things? It seems a bit clunky to me - that a reader would have to follow a ref to find a sentence which is backed up itself by refs? Chaheel Riens (talk) 14:37, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Notes add information, that information needs to be cited and so it is normal to use references within notes. Martin of Sheffield (talk) 15:22, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
But having "Notes" and "Citations" as subsections of a section called "References" is questionable. Maproom (talk) 06:35, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Incorrect detail about Antoni Gaudí

The page for Hotel Attraction – almost certainly incorrectly – states that Gaudí was a communist. I brought this up on the talk page of that article last April, which no one has replied to yet:

That doesn't seem right, what with Gaudí's devout Catholic beliefs, and the main Wikipedia page makes no reference to Gaudí being a Communist. I know the link in the footnote says he was, but it seems to be one of only a few sources that make mention of Gaudí as a communist, all of which concern the Hotel Attraction. This leads me to believe that what I think is the original source for this, a page from the blacklisted website Untapped Cities, fabricated it, intentionally or unintentionally.

Could anyone please help me on this? Sorry that I haven't been using block quotes on my other quotes here. (Edit: Also sorry to keep editing the title of this post, among other things; I have OCD.)--Thylacine24 (talk) 17:29, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mind you, Gaudí did seem to have a humble leisure life of dressing like a beggar (which, notably, indirectly led to his death) and was involved in the design of the College of the Teresians, a building for a Carmelite community that took a vow of poverty, so it's possible that the intention of the project, to serve upper-class hotel patrons, could have offended him, but this is all guesswork on my part.--Thylacine24 (talk) 20:05, 18 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Updating primary infobox image

    Hi-

I'm an official representative for No Depression and would like to update the image in the infobox on our Page to reflect our current journal look and feel. My desire is to simply replace this very outdated journal cover with our latest journal cover, which has drastically changed.

How do I do that? I am authorized to use the image I have/want to update with. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamkirr (talkcontribs) 15:42, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Adamkirr: You need to bring this up on the article talk page Talk:No Depression (magazine). You can use {{Request edit}}. - FlightTime (open channel) 15:46, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, Adamkirr. As the messages on your user talk page tell you, you should declare your conflict of interest in editing that article; and if your position as an official representative is in any way compensated, you must declare yourself as a paid editor. Please understand that the article belongs to Wikipedia and not to your client: anybody in the world may edit it in accordance with Wikipedia's policies; but you are discouraged from doing so directly.
As for the image: authorisation is irrelevant. Apart from the (unlikely) case that the copyright owner chooses to release the image publicly under a licence which will allow anybody in the world to reuse it for any purpose, it can only be used in English Wikipedia under the non-free content criteria. If in the judgment of uninvolved editors a particular image you want to propose can be used in a way that meets all these criteria, then it can be used (and if there is already an image there, this is likely to be straightforward). Please make the request as FlightTime suggests, giving a link to the image to be used. --ColinFine (talk) 16:08, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sources with social media snippets in them Comment

I come across a lot of reliable sources containing either screenshots, or an inserted social media scroll on their page, most often Twitter or Facebook. I was wandering whether information could be taken from these social media 'snippets' and used in a Wikipedia article. For example, this BBC news article has a screenshot of a tweet by Piers Morgan, they have repeated the words of the tweet, so I presume that is fine to use in a Wikipedia article, but what about the other information on the screenshot, such as it was posted on 6 June. (For theoretical reasons, imagine that this is the ONLY source writing on this, so I can't just go and cite the information from another source). A better example of this is here where it isn't a screenshot but an actual inserted Twitter discussion. Any help is appreciated, Willbb234 (talk) 19:51, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

In my view, it is a reliable source confirming that the tweet was made, or specifically that Piers Morgan said 'x.' It is kind of like the American rules of evidence re hearsay - the statement is evidence that the statement was made, but it cannot be used to prove the truth of the matter asserted. Does that make sense? --‡ Єl Cid of ᐺalencia ᐐT₳LKᐬ 20:06, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@El cid, el campeador: I'm sorry, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. What I'm getting at is that the source can confirm the 'tweet' was made but you cannot use the content of the 'tweet' in an article. Am I correct? Willbb234 (talk) 20:19, 19 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Armstrong Teasdale established a presence in China in 1994 and was awarded a license to open a foreign law office in Shanghai in 2000 by the PRC Ministry of Justice. See Wikipedia:Citing sources. Per WP:Verifiability all sources must be published. The second source appears to be published, and the citation you gave may be enough for reader to find it. But "private transcript" is not a phrase normally used when citing sources; I have no idea what it means. Also, there is not enough information for a reader to locate your first source. I tried logging in to commons on Chrome using my password that I've never changed but it reports "Incorrect username or password entered. Please try again." Again, I'm curious why I had to change my password to resolve this issue. -84user (talk) 02:51, 20 June 2019 (UTC) EDIT to raise the prior issue that led me to discover the unified login failing, and that is the Mark as Read choice in my Notifications (View Notices on top line to right of View Alerts) has no effect: clicking mark as read made the blue dot empty, but the notice was still there and a refresh page returned the status to unread. Is there a more direct way to get Mark as Read, or maybe ,mark all notices as read, to work? (only workaround I found was an awkward visitng of the actual source of the notice and refreshing the page, in my case was on wikidata). Somehow the notice system is not syncing? -84user (talk) 03:08, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

All syncing systems (including password/email updates and user renaming) seem to be slow at the moment, it can take a couple of hours. Jannik Schwaß (talk) 04:47, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Quran (8:67) - "It is not for a Prophet that he should have prisoners of war until he had made a great slaughter in the land..." add to Kosovo, Bangladesh, Turkey, Pakistan, Croatia ....all the way back to 7th century Arabia please.

It is not for us to interpret the words of the prophet Mohammad....simply to carry them out or die immediately. More like Satan inspires him. Not God who created Man. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.193.64.67 (talk) 05:22, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If you are asking for a quotation to be added to the articles about five or more nations, then no. If you want some other help, please ask for it more clearly. -- Hoary (talk) 05:25, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Football club kit patters

    Helped
I am currently updating Dumbarton FC seasons pages including the addition of historical kits worn by the players during that season.

I have source material for the styles (historicalkits.co.uk) but other than 'trial and error' am unaware of any guide on the coding required for displaying the kits on the relevant page.

For example the 1876-77 season shows the following code:

    |pattern_la1= |pattern_b1 = |pattern_ra1= |pattern_sh1=_navy_sides |pattern_so1= |leftarm1 =1d1f4d |body1 =1d1f4d |rightarm1=1d1f4d |shorts1 =ffffff |socks1 =ff0000

Is there a reference point I can go to for future changes? Aitkegs (talk)

    Hi @Aitkegs: Is this what you're looking for? Template:Football kit/pattern list. Orville1974 (talk) 08:21, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Contacting Wikipedia editors for a specific discipline

Hi - I work in a University and we want to set up a Wikipedia Edit event. We'd like to contact the editorial team for the discipline we are looking to edit to get some advice. How do we do this? Thanks, Andy

    134.36.253.160 (talk) 10:42, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hey anon. It's not required, but a good first step would be registering an account and/or enabling email, which will make it a great deal easier for others to communicate with you over time. Other than that, if you could give us more information about what university you are working with, or what field you are interested in, we can probably be more helpful. There are preexisting groups on some campuses already, with some programs partnering with the Wiki Educational Foundation to incorporate editing Wikipedia into their curriculum. We also have a range of WikiProjects that are organized geographically and by subject area. GMGtalk 10:55, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

    Hi,

I want to upload a logo of a company. could you upload it for me?

    Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 1994ams (talkcontribs) 11:28, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@1994ams: I can say that you need to read the posts on your user talk page(User talk:1994ams) about conflict of interest and your username. 331dot (talk) 11:30, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Individual Reverts my Good Faith Edits

I don't know what this individual has against me and my expertise on "his" particular subject. I don't want an edit war, but I don't know what to do about it. He just says "you are wrong" without describing the specifics. He even deletes my additions to citations. What can I do about this?

    Softtest123 (talk) 12:32, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I like to work on Wikipedia when I'm not busy, or as it applies to the work I am doing. Right now I am working on Floating Point. The latest history there shows my revert and my explanation. I think he doesn't read my references, so I think it is something personal. I can give you point of interest on this, though I am not really sure why he reverts my stuff except that he reverts a lot of stuff on Floating Point. I think he is claiming ownership or something.
And isn't it okay to have multiple references for a factoid? There is often minor differences in perspectives of various citation authors. There are multiple experts in any field and one should study them all to be knowledgeable.

    Logo Loading

Hello! Please tell me what I do wrong when loading the company logo - they constantly write to me that the copyright of the image is violated, although the owner of this site has allowed me to use its logo, which I upload. Another person does the same thing and they never write anything about it to him. For example, his download is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Spinet_logo.png and the same is mine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Carsscanner_logo.jpg - what's the difference? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Webseon (talkcontribs) 14:40, 20 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
