Locket Chatterjee (born 4 December 1970) is a Bengali actress and Member of Parliament from Hooghly district, West Bengal, India. She is also a classical dancer. Locket completed her training in Bharat Natyam, Kathakali, Manipuri and Creative,[1] but, she is more popular as an actress. Presently Chatterjee is the president of woman wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the state of West Bengal.[2]

Early life

Chattarjee was born in Bengali Brahmin family. Her father was a priest as was her grandfather. Locket's mother encouraged her and her sister Mala to do something related to the arts. Her mother took her to dance school. Locket went abroad with the Mamata Shankar ballet troupe when she was a class VIII student.[3] She grew up by the Ganges on the northern outskirts of Calcutta’s Dakshineswar area.[4]

She later studied at Jogamaya Devi College, affiliated to the University of Calcutta.[5]
