Mark Viner

Dear Jim,

Many thanks, indeed for the page restoration and the helpful edits. I qualify for five categories of the WP:MUSICBIO criteria. These are:

1. I was cover feature for the Jul/Aug 2018 issue of International Piano Magazine 5. I have six albums on the Piano Classics label 7. I am a prominent representative of Alkan’s music 9. I’ve won a 1st Prize in a major piano competition 12. My last album of Chaminade’s music was featured for a whole week of broadcasts on WCRB (Classical Radio Boston)

Three of these (nos.5, 7 & 9) I have already mentioned and to mention the rest seems a bit trivial - the guidance of the WP:MUSICBIO says I need to meet at least one of these items of criteria so is this ok? Should I add anything else?

Very many thanks, again,

Mark Viner (talk) 22:57, 21 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Mark Viner, the main weakness is lack of references. In particular, a reviewer would expect to see a ref for the claimed Athens prize and for the planned complete works, although you could leave the latter out until it happens if you can't find an RS source Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:02, 22 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for the guidance, Jimfbleak. I’ve added a citation from the Alink-Argerich Foundation website (about as reliable source there ever was for such matters). The project to record Alkan’s complete piano music I expect to take at least ten years - the second installment of this is due for release in September and once an announcement of this is made in a reputable review/press feature (i.e. Gramophone/BBC Music Magazine) I’ll cite it. Thank you, again Mark Viner (talk) 05:21, 24 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

On the "blue energy harvesting"

Dear Jimfbleak, I want to create the new entry "blue energy harvesting". I have copied some contents from one published paper. The paper is mine. Can I directly copy it or revise it to get different from the existing paper? The draft "blue energy harvesting" has been deleted. Thank you very much!

Notability and COI for Draft:Queens Night Market

Hi! I'd love to create an article about Queens Night Market that is both neutral and meets the notability requirements. I only referenced a small subset of independent materials which I think meet the notability requirements, and restricted all citations to large national or international publications (eg, NYT, WSJ, AP, Reuters, etc). None of the references were as a result of any advertising or sponsorship or partnership with my organization.

When I found out that the Queens Night Market was now part of the New York City Wikipedia article, I wanted to create a Wikipedia cross-reference to that link that users could click on so they wouldn't have to independently google our project.

I would love your advice on how to make the draft more appropriate for Wikipedia. Is it the inline references? The tone?

Of course writing neutrally is incredibly difficult. I already took out all references to myself and to the origins and mission of the project. I really just want people to know where and what it is and why it's referenced in the New York City article from a cultural perspective.

Would love more of your advice. Thank you!!!

Thank you for the advice!! I'll definitely take another crack at the in-line references and re-submit. Coffeeandsmoke (talk) 13:50, 26 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the very helpful edits on the article! I'd love to add some pictures, assuming the article is reviewed and ultimately accepted. Should I wait until a decision is made in order to upload pictures? Also, since I have a COI, are there special guidelines I should follow with respect to which images I submit for the article? I assume the pictures should also be neutral in tone, but not sure how to accomplish that as easily with pictures. Would love to get your advice. Thanks! Coffeeandsmoke (talk) 11:20, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Coffeeandsmoke the main thing with images is that they must not have been posted elsewhere unless under an explicit public domain licence, otherwise they will be deleted as copyright violations even if they are your own photos; basically, you'll need to take your own new pics specifically to post here. You don't have to wait until acceptance or otherwise. Images just showing the market will not be treated as COI or promotional unless they are clearly adverts. As long as they don't, for example, show a banner saying "Come to the night market", you should be OK
You should upload your images here, which will guide you through the process Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:25, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you! We have thousands of pictures we have never posted. I will pick one or two and upload them. Coffeeandsmoke (talk) 12:29, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

cMapIT

Hello Jimfbleak,

Trust my message meets you well?

The removed cMapIT article is not yet complete and I should have at least given a notice before removal. Kindly reconsider.

Cheers

I have been asked by John Azarias, founder of the Lysicrates Foundation, to create an article in Wikipedia. The Foundation is a charity organisation and I have volunteered my time to assist John. If you need any documentation to support this then John Azarias is quite willing to furnish it. Please reinstate the draft so that I can add to it and get it published. Howdy Jim

How does a company or person get a page written if they are not allowed to contribute themselves (vanity) - simply to provide relevant facts that are useful to the public? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cryptofacts (talkcontribs) 16:13, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Cryptofacts, "being useful to the public" is not one of our criteria because it's hard to define or measure. A person or company must meet our notability criteria, I'll post more guidance on your talk page Jimfbleak - talk to me? 18:02, 27 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Watcha Jim, I have Frank Matcham up at FAC and he seems to have gone down well with the locals there, with five supports and a trouble-free image and source review. It's the centenary of Frank's death next year and I'm testing the waters with regards to getting on the MP on his death date - 18 May. I don't really know how TFA works, but I'd be keen for this to be considered, as and when it is promoted. Pinging Dank, who I know is also a peerless blurb writer. CassiantoTalk 07:26, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

(tps) Normally, we go for birthdays rather than death dates, but if the world will celebrate that day, so should Wikipedia. You could enter him in WP:TFARP as soon as he is FA, and then nominate from 18 April 2020. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:35, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I'll do that. Wikipedia wasn't around in 1954 to celebrate the first 100th year, and with how things are going just recently, I doubt it'll be here at all at the bicentenary. Not only that, but in 2054, I'll probably be coughing into my cardigan, receiving time-consuming bed baths from the fat nurse down the road, and worrying too much about ear hair to be concerned about an article I wrote 35 years previously. That's why I picked the death date as that is next year. CassiantoTalk 07:59, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Cassianto, I can't see any problem, although on the current scheduling rotation (which may, of course, change), it will be Ealdgyth's month. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 08:49, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You've lost me; sorry, does each editor get their own month? Does that mean she has to have 30-odd of her own articles appear each day? Or is she the other scheduler? Like I said a few weeks ago, I avoid TFA as it's more trouble than it's worth, but with a centenary like this, it's worth taking the risk. CassiantoTalk 20:19, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(tps) The three present delegates are on a monthly rotation, Jim has 1-4-7-10, Ealdgyth 2-5-8-11, Wehwalt the rest, and they rarely (but today) scheduled their "own". (There has to be a coin per month, and a mushroom, and a hurricane ...) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 20:43, 28 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Cassianto, as Gerda says, three of us take turns scheduling a calendar month's worth of TFAs at a time, while Dan does most of the blurbs but, by choice, doesn't normally select TFAs. There a handful of topic categories like those Gerda mentioned in which we are well supplied, so one of these is likely to be selected every month along with a bird and a military history. A date-linked request for an article to run is likely to succeed as long as the FA is still in decent shape and there isn't another request with a better claim to the same date (eg a centenary against a tenth anniversary). Cheers Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:46, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Got it, thanks. CassiantoTalk 07:26, 29 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there, Jim. How's everything with yourself? Good I hope. BTW, I've nominated this film article about a poignant yet funny love triangle starring Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. As always, your comments would be most welcome and beneficial to the overall improvement of the article. Thanks.  — Ssven2 Looking at you, kid 15:16, 1 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Could you please recheck the draft.

Hi Jim thanks for the constructive feedback for the draft , I have deleted much of the useless content from fiorano software page and also realized press release is not a notable source. I am obliged by the chance you gave for improvement so could you please recheck the draft page if it is ok now? Neverenough5 (talk) 07:51, 2 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
