- XernonnE.L. (talk · contribs) (TB)
This article clearly meets the notability requirements in multiple places for both the Composer,songwriter..librettist as well as musician group. Please review the criteria for both with regards to the revised article:
Composers, songwriters, librettists or lyricists, may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria:
Has credit for writing or co-writing either lyrics or music for a notable composition. Has written musical theatre of some sort (includes musicals, operas, etc.) that was performed in a notable theatre that had a reasonable run as such things are judged in their particular situation and time. Has had a work used as the basis for a later composition by a songwriter, composer or lyricist who meets the above criteria. Has written a composition that has won (or in some cases been given a second or other place) in a major music competition not established expressly for newcomers. Has been listed as a major influence or teacher of a composer, songwriter or lyricist that meets the above criteria. Appears at reasonable length in standard reference books on his or her genre of music.
Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria.
Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.[note 1] This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following: Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.[note 3] Works consisting merely of trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories. Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases. Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart. Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country. Has received non-trivial coverage in independent reliable sources of an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one sovereign country.[note 4] Has released two or more albums on a major record label or on one of the more important indie labels (i.e., an independent label with a history of more than a few years, and with a roster of performers, many of whom are independently notable). Is an ensemble that contains two or more independently notable musicians, or is a musician who has been a reasonably prominent member of two or more independently notable ensembles.[note 5] This should be adapted appropriately for musical genre; for example, having performed two lead roles at major opera houses. Note that this criterion needs to be interpreted with caution, as there have been instances where this criterion was cited in a circular manner to create a self-fulfilling notability loop (e.g. musicians who were "notable" only for having been in two bands, of which one or both were "notable" only because those musicians had been in them.) Has become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city; note that the subject must still meet all ordinary Wikipedia standards, including verifiability. Has won or been nominated for a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno, Mercury, Choice or Grammis award. Has won first, second or third place in a major music competition. Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g., a theme for a network television show, performance in a television show or notable film, inclusion on a notable compilation album, etc. (But if this is the only claim, it is probably more appropriate to have a mention in the main article and redirect to that article. Read the policy and notability guideline on subjects notable only for one event, for further clarifications). Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network. Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network.

13:54:39, 29 June 2019 review of submission by Keleperkins
- Keleperkins (talk · contribs) (TB)
I submitted a new article (on Patty Carreto) which was rejected on false grounds that I did not include any references. I did include a reference to a Los Angeles Times article from May 1987. The reviewer falsely claimed that no reference was included. Keleperkins (talk) 13:54, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- @Keleperkins: - hi there. The reviewer was indeed incorrect to say that it had no sources - and yours is a good one. Unlike many sports, swimming doesn't have a specific "if you did this, you're notable" set of guidelines, so we default to the BASIC/GNG requirements. In short, that requires a 2nd good source, which is not yet met. I had a look for another source myself, and couldn't find any with more than 2 lines. However if you can find one with a couple of paragraphs that would be enough to demonstrate notability. Nosebagbear (talk) 16:29, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- The LA times article is available online. I took a quick glance from that article and already found the information. The reviewer not only incorrectly said there's no source, but also incorrectly failed it per WP:NSPORTS. The subject passes notability per WP:NOLYMPICS. OhanaUnitedTalk page 17:41, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

17:02:41, 29 June 2019 review of draft by Bonniedust
I'm requesting help because I do not understand in what way the article violets wikipedia's standards for referencing, and even more so, how it "needs more secondary sources". Every statement in this article is backed up with a source that meets journalistic standards. It would be helpful if the reviewer could point out which parts specifically he or she deems insufficient.
Thank you!
Bonniedust (talk) 17:02, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- Pinging @Mjs1991: - I would say that while a couple might have issues, there's relatively little content that would violate the bare minimum standards of inline citations and I think they are covered. Their comment however is probably more legitimate (in terms of content that meets all 4 requirements of secondary/significant coverage/independent/reliable). I was unsure about the clash however, so hopefully they can clarify.
- For future note, the easiest route is to go to their talk page (see the linked username above the resubmit button) and ask there. Nosebagbear (talk) 19:40, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- Hi @Bonniedust and Nosebagbear:, the reason i declined the article was the fact that most of the articles only relatively focus on Dan Bodan's albums, rather than himself. It's a fairly good article, but if there were more secondary sources that focused on him and gave it significant coverage then I'd gladly accept it. Have a read of WP:THREE--Mjs1991 (talk) 04:41, 30 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you @Mjs1991 and Nosebagbear:. I added two more secondary sources with information on Bodan's life and activities that are not music-related. I would like to make sure that it now meets wikipedia's/your criteria?

Dear WikiProject Help Desk,
I would be very thankful, if you could give some pointers on speeding up the approval for the posting of this page. The image used for the profile was tagged as a potential copyright violation, however the owner of the image gave permission via OTRS. Could this be the reason for delays in approval?
Kind regards! Nautiluscreed (talk) 17:38, 29 June 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Nautiluscreed. The image has nothing to do with how long it takes to be reviewed. The draft has been in the pool to be reviewed for one week. The current backlog is four months. The best thing that you can do for the draft is to make it as good as possible, so that if it's approved (probably 80% of submissions never are), it's approved the first time it's reviewed. To do that, study Wikipedia's policies and guidelines and gain experience by editing existing articles. --Worldbruce (talk) 20:07, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

- Uipmonline2019 (talk · contribs) (TB)
Uipmonline2019 (talk) 23:27, 29 June 2019 (UTC) "Uipmonline2019, her notability depends primarily on her published books. There is one substantial published book by U. Oklahoma Press, FireLight. There need to be added references to substantial 3rd party published reviews in reliable sources. She is apparently about to publish another book at the publisher, and the article would be much more likely to be acepted once it has been published and also gotten such substantial 3rd party reviews ( and do not use Amazon or book jacket tributes or anything from the publisher's site for such reviews--they aren ot independent). , I;d suggest withdrawing this now, and trying after that 2nd book has attractedsubstantial notice. Het david, What would make this sufficient for Wikipedia? Is there not enough info?
- I see some problems here:
- The text reads more like an advertisement, but Wikipedia doesn't want to be an advertising vehicle
- the page only contains a reference to the company's website. Wikipedia articles need multiple, independent, reliable references.
- Rejection is meant to be final, in this case because during making an acceptable page, you would have to rewrite the page entirely.

The reason for the rejection, which was "not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia", was not very clear. I don't see any reason for it not being accepted, even after reviewing all the rules of submission.
The person of the titled article is well known in the automobiles business in Lebanon, and is looked upon by so many people interested in the industry.
I've edited the intro and added his Guinness Word Record breaking.
Mohammadk97 (talk) 13:18, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- we do not consider Guinness as evidence for notability , especially when its for as minor and specialized a matter as here.There are just not sufficient accomplishements, which accounts for the lack of references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources DGG ( talk ) 09:33, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

16:01:42, 1 July 2019 review of submission by O'Hagan22
Hi, This is my first time publishing a page so I have a lot to learn, my recent attempt to publish the above page was declined and I am unsure what I should do in order to move forward. My recent note was 'references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage'
The page I'm trying to create is information on a novel which has been published in several countries and languages, has been reviewed by a number of notable newspapers and magazines, NY Times, Guardian, Telegraph and so on and It was published by a well known and reputable publishers Faber & Faber and is sold in most high street book stores. The author in question has a number of novels some of which are on schools curriculums. Having looked at other contemporary authors and their novels pages I can't see any notable difference in my content. Could you please advise? Thank you :)

19:01:45, 1 July 2019 review of draft by Pi314m
It could very well be that the publication itself (HRO Today) is not notable, in which case I can easily understand that it has no place in Wikipedia, _BUT_
- the awards they put out, (Baker's dozen, Top RPO (Recruitment process outsourcing) Provider, and other CapitaLized AcroNyms), get attention.
- HRO Today is cited both in Wiki articles and in NYTimes articles that follow awardees of HRO Today's awards
- Question: Should the article be flipped- named something like HRO Today award series and then just have a minor section about the magazine, which still does seem notable for-
- an article titled "Insourcing, Outsourcing? How about Self-sourcing?" that
- mined Wikipedia's history of a pair of banks that merged decades ago as Standard Chartered and, after September 11, rebuilt its personnel department in an innovative way.
- as for a pair of words, "selfsourcing" or "self-sourcing" : I have no source that they were first, so I wrote that the article was an "early user of."
To repeat and summarize: Am I better off "flipping" the orientation to awards - since that's what gets attention? Pi314m (talk) 19:01, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi! I was notified that my submission was declined because it appeared to be a "test article". I don't understand what that means. I'm trying to submit my information/article as a legitimate, recognized and published artist. Any advice on how I can do that would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and attention. Sincerely, Beth Farrell
- Beth A. Farrell I wouldn't of denied it as a test edit. However I do see two problems here. First off it seems to be a autobiography which are strongly discouraged here on Wikipedia. Secondly you only have a link to your personal website for a reference which is a primary source. Wikipedia requires several secondary sources for inclusion on Wikipedia. I am working on adding an article about Veronica Kirin and my submission was rejected due to not enough citations regarding her awards. I have photos of each of her awards (from the source). How can these be submitted or should I leave awards off altogether? I am having trouble finding how to include citations for these items as news coverage was limited or out of print.
Here is a Dropbox folder with all the images: Dropbox link w award images for citation.
Alightjones (talk) 18:55, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
- Basically, one book is not enough. The awards are relatively minor. It's probably too early in her career for a successful article. DGG ( talk ) 09:38, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

I am seeing that the page is rejected due to being "not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia." BCSEA has been cited on the Climate change mitigation page where a dedicated article is missing and BCSEA is also mentioned in the History of green policies in Vancouver. I am confused about the decision. A dedicated article can help complete the two pages. Also, organizations of the same type that we have worked with frequently in the past like the Sierra Club Canada have a page. Can you please Re-Review or let me know if there is anything I can do about this decision?

Draft writer/editor: Gipsyblues
Draft: DVEO
This question or request is for advice is for a page I am writing for DVEO which was rejected by DGG on June 9, 2019,as looking more like an ad than a wikipedia article
Unfortunately that remark is NOT helpful because there is no definition about the ad characteristics which the draft has which makes it look more like a commercial.
I hope that experienced editors will help newer editors by not only describing an article is looking like a commercial but explain why an article looks like a commercial.
I am writing about a DVEO - a company which has contributed to the success of NASA's efforts to educate the general public as to what is happening in the Space program by supplying a key component to the video production section of the airborne equipment to help NASA send very high quality video streams from Space to the NASA facility on earth to re broadcast those images and activities to the general public on earth.
I have since then done a number of re edits . In the History of company section, I have re-written the first part as prose as opposed to using a bullet format to explain activities in specified dates. I have intentionally left the second half of the History using the bulleted date format. Please comments will be very helpful
I had a section for key products which I have deleted completely and retained at the end of the draft, a list of awards DVEO has received. I could use some help in that section too
I would also welcome other advice and how to organize this draft to make it look or meet the conditions of a wikipedia article
Sincerely
Gipsyblues

Thanks Craig-SG-Wright (talk) 06:39, 3 July 2019 (UTC)
- There is an almost total absence of references providing substantial coverage from third-party independent reliable sources, not press releases or mere announcements. Yhe only substanial refernces is a interview where the head of the firmjust says whatever they want to . This is PR, not an trully independent source. If the product is truly important, there should be better sources. DGG ( talk ) 09:42, 3 July 2019 (UTC)

To whom it may concern,
Months ago, i added an album from the band The Atomic Bitchwax, and I was sent a message, "Stub created, hope that helps. All the best.": https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravitron_(album)
i am now trying to add an album from the band Madball, and it is being rejected. I don't understand why? Is it because I tried to create a page (a standalone article) instead of a "stub"? Or it is something else?
Could some one give me some advice. :-)

I not really sure what other soruces you would need. The Book was publisjed last year on Amazon and only sold 4 Paperback version and 1 Ebook version the 4 Paperbacks were by me. And I have no idea who bought the ebook version I suspect it was a family member but they never said if they did or not.
Not sure what you meen about the book. It starts out with Chapter 0 which talks about my self a little bit then Chapter 1 though 10 is the main story. Bonus chapter is the orignal story I started writing, then it has character bios its less then 100 pages long.
Book 2 which I am currently working on I plan on the same number of chapters but will be longer and will include conspect art I did.
I plan on marketing the entire series though many Self publishing sites as well as I am thinking of having other items made. such as tee shirts, playing cards. But I am witing to see if book sales go up.
as for review the person who bought the ebook version never gave a review and smashword I just placed it a few days ago so I not yet sold any copies. I only created the wikiapedia page because some one told me it would help promote the book more.
some one said that because of how rare the 4 Paperback books currently are that a Wikipedia page would help drive up sales but they just became more rare the other day. 1 is a Proof copy that says Not For Sale on it. It is a smaller version then the others. the 3 Author Editions were printed before the cover was fixed (when it was first printed Amazon used one of their covers because my cover would not fit) so they are the only 3 in existance with the Amazon General Cover. 1 of which is signed by me. 2 as given to a friend with out my signature, 1 was given to a friend in prison with my signature and the 3rd I still have and I plan on signing it toon
I as you can tell I have a gammer issue. I have a nerlogical/learning disorder to the brain Its why the book to me 6 years to write because I had to keep going back and fixing my grammer, and spelling I even end up using a program to help fix the grammer. I kept the book partly a secret from my family they knew I was writing it but they had no idea I had it published till after I had it published.

````
- @Suhani Kanwar: There is no quick fix, because the subject is not notable (not suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia). There are plenty of search results for the name, but they're little more than mentions in the credits. They are not significant coverage. Examples of significant coverage of a TV screenwriter would be: [6] [7] and [8]. Contrast them with the draft's deepest source, [9]. - @Axsli: - the reject is still the reasonable judgement. Sources have to be independent - this means any website from a company he worked at can't help prove notability - it has a reason to be biased. The same applies to interviews. Sources need to be in-depth, secondary (newspapers, books etc), reliable and independent. Nosebagbear (talk) 15:39, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
Also a lot of news coverage has happened in Indian local language news media which may not be of help to quote here (as it is in languages such as Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, etc). Besides this, I have also quoted the English news coverage.
It is important to create a wikipedia page for this Not for Profit organization because it is now big enough in size that it is able to feed 200,000+ children with free nutritious breakfast, and wants to serve up to 1 million needy children in the near future.
In case you have any other advice/suggestions/edits for this page to be published, kindly let know.
It is of prime importance that as a wikipedia contributor i would like to ensure the best and most accurate information be published.
- @Anandregunathan: - firstly, the biggest issue the article faces is its blatant advertorial tone. To give one example "Annapoorna has had a roller coast ride right since its inception. There has been no looking back from the start, and the number of children benefitted have grown exponentially. 20 Million+ Meals have been served so far !" is complete non neutral and not in an encyclopedic tone.
- Sources in other languages are fine. However an annual report doesn't help prove anything more controversial than things like name & location. Wikipedia requires secondary sources that are independent and reliable. A company's report has strong reason to present a positive viewpoint.
- As a smaller note, an article shouldn't "talk" to its readers. Nosebagbear (talk) 15:45, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
15:20:35, 5 July 2019 review of draft by MemeTrooper
I was wondering if I could use the current logo I put for the article? It was removed when I saw the draft, but can i put it back? Also, what happens if i submit it for review and it is declined?
MemeTrooper (talk) 15:20, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- @MemeTrooper: - fair use generally only authorises usage of a logo in an article. Its presence won't hinder a draft being accepted, and it can always be uploaded and added once it becomes an article again.
- Most drafts that aren't accepted are declined. You get a summary explanation, possibly a longer explanation (you can always ask the reviewer to be more in-depth), and can fix it and resubmit. Obviously, given the delays atm, it's preferable to get it right first time.
- I would suggest asking Onel5969 if they can clarify specific promotional points (I would just briefly say that it speaks constantly about the pluses and successes of the company)
- A bigger issue is that the draft seems to only be sourced through sites linked to the company. Sources need to be in-depth, reliable, independent (sources with no reason not to be fully accurate. This also rules out most interviews), and they need to be secondary sources (newspapers, books, etc) Nosebagbear (talk) 16:00, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Nosebagbear: - The logo's description apparently says non free content rather than free use, but i could have sworn it was put as free use when I first added it to the article. Also, am I just asking One if the article will be approved simply for listing the successes of the company? I didn't completely understand why your directing me to him. - @MemeTrooper: - To clarify, I was saying that currently the draft only talks about the company's positive actions. They may (or may not) be accurate, but it would still give a one-sided viewpoint if neutral and even negative info wasn't included. However, it's some of the phrasing that is also potentially problematic. Ask Onel for some examples on what made the article (now draft) promotional,
- How would you know the logo was free use - has the company declare it such? Nosebagbear (talk) 17:10, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- @Nosebagbear: Probably not, my memory just may be wrong since I put the logo in the article months ago. I was given a notification that it is an orphaned non free image. I'm a bit confused on it. It says in the message that I can readd it if I think it is useful, but I thought that non free images can't be used Wikipedia and only fair use can. Am I able to add it back because I was told I can in that message?MemeTrooper (talk) 17:31, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
