Lahnda means west in Siraiki language. Some English linguists call Siraiki Lahnda or Lahndi. As Russian linguist Sumernov called it in his book The Lahndi Language.

Siraiki is spoken in west Punjab (Pakistan), which is a reason why linguists have given it the name north west language or lahndi/lahnda.
