Illusion (band)
Illusion was a British band formed in 1977 comprised by Jane Relf (vocals), Jim McCarty (vocals, acoustic guitar and percussion), John Hawken (keyboards), Louis Cennamo (bass), John Knightsbridge (guitars) and Eddie McNeill (drums). They released two albums, Out of the Mist and Illusion on Island Records. As might be expected from the personnel, their style was classically-inspired, sophisticated, and polished.
Illusion was intended to be a reunion of the original line-up of Renaissance (whose second album was titled Illusion), but singer and guitarist Keith Relf died before the project was realised. McCarty moved from drums to play acoustic guitar and share vocal chores with Jane Relf; the drum chair was taken over by McNeill, and Knightsbridge took over the guitarist's role.
