Kapil Mishra (born 13 November 1980) is an Indian politician from Delhi.[1][2][3] He was an MLA representing Karawal Nagar constituency in the Sixth Legislative Assembly of Delhi due to Anti-party activities of supporting rival party BJP during general Loksabha elections 2019 hence was disqualified as an MLA.

He won the elections by a margin of 44,431 votes. He took his oath in Sanskrit. He was removed from the position of Water Resource Minister in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Afterwards he sought appointment with the Anti corruption Bureau to lodge complaint against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and another party member, Satyendra Jain, regarding 2 crores bribe money, later on Lokayukta dropped Kejriwal's name from the case. Since then, he has been alleging more instances of corruption in AAP government under Arvind Kejriwal.

Personal and public life

He is the son of BJP councillor from Sonia Vihar, Annapurna Mishra.[4]

And rameshwar mishra pankaj, a former socialist leader and currently a thinker on India and author.

He is a master in social work from Delhi School of Social Work and has worked with eminent international organizations like Greenpeace and Amnesty International on Political and Business Policy issues. He is one of the first people to protest against Commonwealth Games 2010 held in New Delhi and has written a book "It's Common v/s Wealth" highlighting the various scams and social and environmental concerns related with CWG 2010.

As co-founder and coordinator of "Youth for Justice", a New Delhi based youth action group that works on spontaneous issues that need cognizance, he has led the youth protest on various socio-economic issues including Jessica Lal murder trial, issues of Farmers suicides in various parts of country,[4] encroachment on Yamuna River bed[5] and various other issues that directly or indirectly affect our common future.

Writer of "It's Common v/s Wealth" a pamphlet on CWG 2010,[6] Since 2007, He is spreading voice against the anti-people development approach that is being practiced by authorities in the name of Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

He has raised the voice inside Delhi Assembly against exploitation of Yamuna in the name of Commonwealth Games and got detained for the action.[7] He has initiated and participated in several protests against exploitation of common people and common resources in the name of "Growth and Development".

He has also prepared a report as citizen journalist for CNN-IBN on encroachment on river Yamuna and also has exposed the issues of violation of labor laws at Games sites by camping outside Games village along with other members of "Youth for Justice".[8][9][10] The Arvind Kejriwal Government recently sacked him from the post of Water Minister. He later submitted documents to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to back his allegations that Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal delayed the probe into a Rs.400 crore tanker scam.[11] Kapil Mishra was suspended from the party’s primary membership a day after he levelled corruption charges against Arvind Kejriwal and his former cabinet colleague Satyendra Kumar Jain.[12] However his allegations turned out to be baseless as CBI and lokayukta gave him clean chit in this alleged ₹2 Cr. bribery case.[13]

On 2nd August 2019, he was disqualified from the Legislative Assembly under anti defection law. He was accused of betraying his party i.e. AAP during the 2019 lok sabha elections.
