L Ramachandran (November 11, 1980) is an Indian photographer and artist.[1][2][3][4] He has worked for magazines such as Playboy and Maxim and is also an author of five photography books.[5] Ramachandran received an honorable doctorate degree from The International Tamil University USA.[6] In 2019, he made a Guinness World record with his team for the most faces painted in four hours.[7][8][9]

Early life and education

Ramchandran was born on November 11, 1980 in Valangaiman, a small town in the Valangaimantaluk of Thiruvarur district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. He joined Fine Arts College of Kumbakonam, however he was not able to complete studies due to poor financial condition.

Career

Ramachandran started his career as an assistant painter and painted banners for products and films. He moved to Chennai and got an opportunity to work in medical field. After doing a few small jobs, he got an opportunity to work in a film company to design logos and promotional content for films. During his time at the company, he got an interest in Photography and started self learning. Ramachandran started his own Advertisement agency, Tharansia.[10]

Ramachandran did a lot of shoot for Celebrities and national brands. He heard about a seminar in Maimi by the centrefold, where he applied and got selected to participate in it for playboy magazine. He travelled from India to Miami to attend the seminar, where he met Mr Jarmo Pohjaniemi who was the CEO for Shoot the Centrefold.[11][12] Pohjaniemigot was impressed by the photography skills of Ramachandran and taught him lessons of advanced photography.[13][14] After a several rounds, the institute officially announced Ramachandran as a First Indian Playboy magazine photographer.[15] After that he worked with lot of Playmate and international photographers, his work was also published in Playboy magazines and other magazines.[16][17]
