Fair to Midland is a band formed in 1998 in the small town of Sulphur
Springs, Texas, with singer Andrew Sudderth, guitarist Cliff Campbell, drummer
Jason Pintler, and bassist Nathin Seals. The band started off playing local clubs
in the Dallas area for years, maturing rapidly as they got older.
In 2001, Brett Stowers, formerly of Misanthrope, joined the band as a
percussionist. In 2002, they released their first full-length album, The
Carbon
Copy Silver Lining . They got that album title from a contest they
had between the fans for the title of the album. This album also
featured Matt
Langley (at the time keyboardist for the bands Hagelaz and
Cold Fuzion) on keyboards for a few of the songs.
In 2003, Jason Pintler left the band, and Brett Stowers took over on drums,
and they kept on playing. In 2004, after many demos and rewriting of
songs, they released their second full length album, inter.funda.stifle.
After the release of inter.funda.stifle the band would only skyrocket
from there. Bassist Nathin Seals left the band shortly after the release
of inter.funda.stifle, due to family responsibilities, and was replaced by
bassist Jon Dicken.
They expanded from touring areas in Texas and Oklahoma, to play gigs all over
the country, such as the Whisky-a-Go-Go and the Roxy in L.A. all the way up
north to Canada, and back down to Texas.
After months of touring and troubles with the van they were touring in, in
April of 2006 System Of A Down frontman Serj Tankian approached the band with
a record deal with his label, Serjical Strike Records. Fair to Midland
has an EP coming in November of 2006, with their first full length
album on the label following shortly afterward, which will be produced by
three-time Grammy award winning producer David Bottrill. (Tool, Godsmack, Staind)
