Darko Stanić (Serbian Cyrillic: Дарко Станић, born 8 October 1978)[1] is a Serbian handball goalkeeper who plays for El Jaish and for the Serbian national team.[2]

Stanić was born in Mojkovac, SFR Yugoslavia (now Montenegro). Stanić was banned from playing for two years (2006–08), following testing positive for cocaine.[3] He chose to represent the Serbian national team, despite being called up by Montenegro (which had left the confederation with Serbia in 2006),[3] due to his Serb ethnicity.[4]

Individual awards

  • All-Star Goalkeeper of the European Championship: 2012[5]
