PagerDuty is a cloud computing company that produces a SaaS incident response platform for IT departments.[4][5] As of 2018, the company has raised over $170 million in venture funding.[6][7][8] It has been recognized by Forbes on its "Cloud 100" as well as the USA Today list for the top small and mid-sized companies for diversity in 2018.[9][10]
PagerDuty is headquartered in San Francisco with operations in Toronto, Ontario, Atlanta, the United Kingdom, and Australia. Its platform is designed to alert clients to disruptions and outages through machine learning and automation.[11] The software operates as a standalone service or can be integrated into existing IT systems.[4] Notable customers include GE, Vodafone, Box.com, and American Eagle Outfitters.
History
The company was founded 2009 in Toronto, Ontario, by University of Waterloo graduates Alex Solomon, Andrew Miklas, and Baskar Puvanathasan. The company was incubated at the Y Combinator.[12]
PagerDuty raised a seed funding round of $1.9 million in 2010, followed by a Series A round that raised $10.7 million in January 2013.[13][14] As of 2018, the company has raised over $170 million in venture funding.[15][16][17]
In July 2016, the former CEO of Keynote Systems, Jennifer Tejada, was named CEO of PagerDuty.[18] Later that year, the company held its first PagerDuty Summit, an industry conference to encourage digital innovation.[19][20] The PagerDuty Summit was held in San Francisco in 2017[21] and 2018. In 2016, PagerDuty received a silver Stevie Award for Female Executive of the Year in the Computer Services and Computer Software category.[22] The following year, the company won the gold New Product or Service of the Year award under Software as an IT Service Management Solution[23] and a silver award for Customer Service Department of the Year under Computer Services.[24]
PagerDuty announced a funding round in April 2017 led by Accel. The $43.8 million round included existing investors Andreessen Horowitz, Bessemer Venture Partners, Baseline Ventures and Harrison Metal.[25]
In September 2018, PagerDuty raised $90 million in a round led by T. Rowe Price Associates and Wellington Management.[10]
In June 2018, PagerDuty launched Event Intelligence, a product designed to analyze incoming digital signals and human responses to communicate incident response suggestions to operators when new incidents occur. At its industry conference in September 2018, the company also launched PagerDuty Visibility and PagerDuty Analytics.[26][27]
In March 2019, PagerDuty filed its S-1 with the SEC to in anticipation of its IPO.[3]
In April 2019, PagerDuty went public on the New York Stock Exchange.[28]
