Food vs. feed
Appearance
The food vs. feed competition refers to the competition between growing crops for humans and growing crops for animals.[1][2]
Protein production
The term food vs feed competition is often used in the livestock industry, to compare crop inputs vs protein outputs. For example, it is much more efficient to feed humans with crops rather then growing crops for animals, which are then in turn used to feed humans.[3]
In a circular agriculture system
In a circular agriculture system, wasted food (which is hence no longer edible by humans) can be provided to animals which in turn feed humans. In this setup, no land suitable for agriculture is hence specifically used to grow animals.[4][5]
