"He writes a bi-weekly column" -- Does this mean "fortnightly" or "twice per week"?
The quotes from Mark McGwire are not accurate. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 38.101.235.138 (talk) 15:33, 2 March 2017 (UTC)
Biographical Background
So a person with a passion for public service graduated from high school in 1969, at the height of the Vietnam War, but the article doesn't say what he did about military service. This is a gigantic omission because Vietnam was the Number One issue for any healthy male in 1969.
Improvements need for citations, references
I reduced the class of the article from B to C, because it has too much material without citations and uses bare urls to cite references. After this condition has been corrected, the class should be re-evaluated. Folklore1 (talk) 02:34, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Health
Rep. Cummings had heart surgery in May, 2017, and participated in his Congressional duties remotely for a while. I can't find any information on whether he's fully-recovered and back in DC. Isn't this relevant? John Moser (talk) 15:31, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
I've added some information about this. Somebody please check over the language and make sure it is sufficiently NPOV and whatnot. John Moser (talk) 14:22, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
- He just spoke about being in the hospital for several months and that it got him thinking about life. Yes, it is pertinent to include in the article. Source: live on CNN, following the Oversight Committee hearing. Dogru144 (talk) 22:54, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

""Personal Life"?
"Cummings serves on numerous Maryland boards and commissions including the Board of Visitors to the United States Naval Academy and the Elijah Cummings Youth Program in Israel. He is an honorary member of the Baltimore Zoo Board of Trustees.[34]
In addition to his many speaking engagements, he writes a biweekly column for the Baltimore Afro-American newspaper..."
The above have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with his private life, and everything to do with his public / professional / political life, and need to be deleted ... or relocated.
- Addressed.--Artaxerxes (talk) 12:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
On November 24, 2018, Rep. Cummings officiated the marriage of Mika Brzezinski and Joseph Scarborough in Washington D.C. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 198.74.177.100 (talk) 13:54, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- My husband watched "Morning Joe" today. He tells me that Mika and Joe were very upset at the death of their dear friend. The three were apparently closer than the usual officiator-and-marriage-couple are. Some of Representative Cummings close relationships could go into his Private Life section, as he had a number of them. Thank you for your time, Wordreader (talk) 16:26, 17 October 2019 (UTC)

Birthplace
The Baltimore Sun says the family only moved to Baltimore in the 1940s -- where Cummings was RAISED.[1] (He could have been born in a Baltimore hospital while the family lived elsewhere, of course.)--Artaxerxes (talk) 14:53, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
- Okay, I get the math now. The Sun sentence is confusing as to born/raised, though .--Artaxerxes (talk) 14:56, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
