Stability bot
Sir, if you could run the above bot once again in the next few days, I would be very grateful. Thanks again. :) Badbilltucker 16:35, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
- You said to remind you if you didn't run the bot on Saturday. I feel somewhat ashamed doing so, seeing everything you have been doing and how much of it is of much more serious importance than this, but, if and when the schedule is free, I would definitely appreciate it were you to run it again. Badbilltucker 17:16, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
I'm not sure why you re-protected the List of Arab scientists and scholars article so quickly. It was less than twenty-four hours between your unprotection and reprotection, and not a whole lot occurred within that timeframe. -- tariqabjotu 02:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Why did you protect this list again? How are we going to expand this list if its going to be continuesly protected? Was is it becasue of User:Khoikhoi? Did you actually read what that abusive user(check his talk page and block log) reverted? And lastly, can you please unprotect it again?Jidan 11:25, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you Martin! Jidan 11:43, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- I need your advice martin. I want to expand this list but I know sooner or later it will be reverted again by this Khoiko or his friends. I don't want this list to be protected again. BTW, have you checked what Khoiki reverted?Jidan 11:47, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Martinp23, did you look at the history of that page? User:Jidan is continually reverting that article to add people who weren't Arab, against the consensus of other editors. He's on a one-man crusade against 5-6 editors. --Mardavich 13:06, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

"Abusive user"?? What the hell? Khoikhoi 00:05, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- I share that sentiment. Khoikhoi is a well respected admin here Martinp23 09:31, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Dear Martin, since its creation, the article has been based upon this disclaimer: This is a list of scientists and scholars associated with the Arab World and Islamic Spain (Al-Andalus) that lived from antiquity up until the beginning of the modern age. In some cases, their exact ancestry in unclear. They may have emigrated or immigrated, and thus may appear in other "Lists of...", but nevertheless their names and work are linked to the words "Arab", and "Arabic". Which was suggested by admin User:Alex Bakharev, and is the same as List of Iranian scientists and List_of_Russians#Scientists. The Iranians were against this list since the beginning. They wanted a list of muslims, while of course having the privilage to keep list of iranian scientist[1], but then we have a consenus to keep it like this(see the discussion). Now they are back, again! Your help as a neutral observer is highly appreciated (BTW, Khoikhoi is not! see his arbitration [2]) Cheers, Jidan 11:22, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

subst:firstarticle|name
Could you explain to me how that subst works? How does it accomplish what you said it did in your post on Template talk:Firstarticle? I'm trying to understand this. Is it one of those namespace issues (that I know a tiny tiny bit about)? Thanks! Sincerely, Mattisse(talk) 18:00, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you for your response and the page link. I think I understand. Also, I looked up the word you used Transclusion which helped too. Now those letters subst make sense. And I now I understand why it would be harder to vandalize and also why it would be easier on the server. Plus I see how I could be making my life easier by using templates so knowing about that list is really helpful. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Mattisse(talk) 20:15, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

Five Articles
Hi Martin. Thanks for adding the article on the DeWint House to Wikipedia on July 19 2006. This article ties in nicely with the Tappan, New York article. I also tried to contribute the following articles - See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/2006-07-27 and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_creation/2006-07-28 - which would tied important events in this time period. (Please use Tappan, New York for reference) They are as follows.

- Macy Deming Articles_for_creation/2006-07-28

Thanks
Thanks for the protect there. There is something I've always noticed when a page is protected or s-protected. It seems to disappear from my watch list until another edit is made on the page. Even though when I visit the page it shows it as being watched. Any idea why that is?--Crossmr 21:50, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks
Thanks, user:Martinp23! This is very helpful! When does the following exception become relevant: However, Jimbo Wales has suggested semi-protection may be used in cases of "minor bios of slightly well known but controversial individuals" which are not widely watchlisted, if they are "subject to POV pushing, trolling [or] vandalism." In such cases, semi-protection "would at least eliminate the drive-by nonsense that we see so often."[1]?
If you see the Talk page of the OWU article recent instability has become an issue due to the two users that I mentioned in my request for semi-protection. Any comments will be greatly appreciated! WikiprojectOWU 23:07, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

Re: Bean Bailey
I was requesting the page to be deleted, not to be saved. I was placing the delete tag upon the page. If you would have checked the page's history before it was deleted, you would have known that. Are you a new admin? Bearly541 02:07, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- Hi, I do not use a program to place "speedy delete" tags upon pages which need to be deleted. Also, it was about 60 seconds after I placed the tag on the page, and you deleted the page. Maybe my browser runs slower than yours. However, please take into consideration about those factors. Next, time use your mind to determine whether or not a user needs to be "warned" about creating an insufficient page, rather than the person doing the same thing as you are, and wanting to speedy delete the page. Case closed. Thank you! Template:Smi Bearly541 22:55, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Waggle Dance
Dear Martin
In the article on the "Waggle Dance" there appears the following statement:
"it is now known that a round dance is simply a waggle dance with a very short waggle run"
There are no references nor any supporting documentation for this blanket generalization. "It is now known" -- when? and by whom? I am not saying that it is not true, it is. The information is very new and may require the entomology textbooks to be rewritten. I am just wondering who posted this and what their sources are.

Hi Martin, when you remove the last old discussions left in WP:TFD, could you please not add instead a line saying "No old discussions" ? This has a tendency to confuse User:Zorglbot which does the automatic update of this pages, and complains about seeing parasite lines. Of course, I could also teach him to recognise this line and remove it when new pages are added, but this would require editors to always use the exact same text, which is probably a bit too much to add. Your Bot
Hello Martinp23. I just wanted to tell you that your bot reverted from my reversion of vandalism to the previous form.
Here's what happened:
- Someone vandalized (same diff)
- I reverted to a previous version using popups (same diff)
- That version was blanked, by the same user (same diff)
- I reverted myself to the last good edit ([4] diff)
- Your bot reverted back to #1 (diff)
I just wanted to ask if I could remove the warning on my talk page, since it was only a mistake, which I quickly changed. Or is that not allowed? | AndonicO Talk | Sign Here 23:16, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
