Tetrigidae is a family in the order orthoptera, which includes crickets, grasshoppers, and katydids. Tetrigidae is made up of the pygmy grasshoppers, including 1,400 species in 270 genera. The highest concentrations are found in forests in the tropics, but many species can be found outside of these areas.

Characteristics

Pygmy locusts are less than 20mm in length, and are recognizable by a long pronotum, which extends over the length of the abdomen, almost to the tip of the wing, and ends in a point.
