Thank you
It was distressing to see the Melissa Albert article baselessly nominated for deletion like that. It was a relief to see you do a speedy keep. Thank you for saving me nearly a week! Have a great one! --DiamondRemley39 (talk) 00:24, 13 January 2020 (UTC)

Request on 09:40:34, 13 January 2020 for assistance on AfC submission by Wortmead
Dear Missvain, Thank you for the list of helpful resources: this draft is undergoing revision to reflect 'neutrality' and with a clearer lead section. Should the revised draft include more English-language, so fewer German references? Is it preferable to use the citation easy tool - (as a learner, this tool proved not so easy to use!). Would an Infobox with author image be better? Finally, biographies on this author exist in German, French, Italian, is it possible or important to reflect this within the English-language biography? Looking forward to further advice. Wortmead (talk) 09:40, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Wortmead (talk) 09:40, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Wortmead - No need to get rid of those non-English sources, as long as they are reliable secondary sources. Also, no need to mention Wikipedia articles about the subject are in other languages. It doesn't matter. Thank you! Missvain (talk) 16:01, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi Missvain, Thank you! Working through to resubmit. Wortmead (talk) 09:50, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
Onsight Deeda
Hello admin, you deleted the article Onsight Deeda created by me without mention any reason in the deletion discussion. Kindly explain, why the article doesn't meet criteria for WP:Notability (people) and if you can do this, it will be very helpful to me for further biographical articles.(Techwritar (talk) 13:15, 13 January 2020 (UTC))
- Hi there. You can see why it was deleted here. Check out WP:MUSICBIO. Cheers! Missvain (talk) 16:02, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your response but the article meets the number one criteria on WP: MUSICBIO. I suggest you cross-check the article again and if you don't agree with what I said let me know. Techwritar (talk) 16:07, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- What criteria? Unfortunately, he doesn't even qualify for an article for the general notability guidelines of having significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources. Here's a breakdown of the sources:
- "Introducing: Onsight Deeda" from *Blacktopia - This appears to fall under the category of questionable sources. It appears to be a self-published website with sponsored content from musicians/reps.
- "Introducing: Onsight Deeda" from CWMusic - It's the same content as the Blacktopia content. Copied and pasted, word for word. Therefore it is a questionable source.
- [1] from WU-WORLD. Same content as the prior tour sources, again questionable source.
- "SPOTLIGHT: Onsight Deeda" From the Beat Yard. Same content as the prior tour sources, again questionable source. Also, pretty much anything from blogs are questionable sources, as they are self-published.
- This link is dead and it wasn't archived in the Wayback Machine. So, we can't use that...
- "Onsight Deeda Back And Better Than Ever After Overcoming Major Roadblocks" self-published community content on BuzzFeed. It was not written by a freelance or on staff BuzzFeed writer for publishing on their main site.
- "Darron Carter, Accused ‘Gremlins Gang’ Member, Turns Himself In To Abbeville Police [VIDEO"] - Doesn't even mention that he is the same person as the musician and being arrested doesn't gaurentee notability for a Wikipedia article. See ONEEVENT.
- St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office Daily Arrest Report - Same as the prior source, and this one is a minor mention and wouldn't help with establishing general notability guidelines.
- Of course, if you disagree with my deletion of the article after it was taken to WP:AfD then you are welcome to dispute it. You can find more information about that here. If you are also interested in having the last version of the article copied into your sandbox or personal user space, let me know and I will copy it over. Thanks! Pornographic performer articles
I see your intention to focus on this area and i'm mindful that we need sensible users to work on this and that my nominations require a degree of searching for sources that must distract you from improving the articles you want to work on. My question is how many nominations can I put up at any one time without swamping you? At the moment my focus is on badly sourced articles that were previously retained because of depreciated ideas of inherent notability like being in a HOF. Thanks. Spartaz Humbug! 19:14, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Spartaz - I'm so glad you stopped by about this! Would it be easier to list a few articles before we AfD them? Like drop a list off here on my talk page (or wherever you want on wiki) and I can start to check them out and see if I can make improvements. If I can't, then off to AfD it goes. Thoughts? I suggest this because it might be better than bombarding AfD with articles. I like to make it a last resort, if possible, but if there is some urgency I'm unaware of, whatever option you think is best... Missvain (talk) 19:37, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for your work with this. I'm also thrilled about WP:PORNBIO being deprecated for the reasons you gave at the Midori AfD but a bit concerned about some actually notable people getting deleted at the same time - given the unique problems with sourcing articles in this area and the fact they didn't need to really bother with decent sources before makes a lot of articles sitting ducks. It's really good to see some of these getting actually decently sourced so that we can make informed decisions about which ones should actually stay. The Drover's Wife (talk) 08:23, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi The Drover's Wife! I'm also concerned about that, but, I'm struggling with some articles - here are three I was working on last night and frankly, I think they should/could be nominated for AfD: Robert Bullock (actor), Lauren Brice and Roxanne Blaze. I'm concerned Midori will be deleted, despite my efforts. I disagree that interview websites are not considered reliable secondary sources, but I'm a staunch supporter of using oral history in the best ways. (I wouldn't have Wadsworth Jarrell or Louise Nevelson as GAs if I didn't use oral history). Anyway, what do you think about those three? Should we nominate them? I even searched with their pseudonyms and failed to find anything substantial. As with anything, winning an AVN award is not instant inclusion. Missvain (talk) 17:12, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- I think it's really challenging with some of the pre-digital era people in particular because Google's seeming pretty useless in turning up stuff, even with people who've clearly attained prominence that would absolutely lead to fine coverage in reliable sources were they doing anything else. (It really frustrates me at times like this that newspapers.com can't filter out ads.) I think Blaze should be nominated regardless and I don't really see an alternative to deleting Bullock or Brice because there's just absolutely bugger all that I can find online, even though I think it's likely that sources exist for at least Brice somewhere were someone to have the right ones handy. The Drover's Wife (talk) 17:50, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- Yes, Ok, I'll give it a shot with Blaze. I'm adding a "women's pornography archive" which documents oral history and biographical information about these women to my to do list, along with 23848343824 projects... we'll see what happens next. I concur about Newspapers.com! I'd LOVE to see a filter for ads - it's just exhausting!! Missvain (talk) 18:04, 14 January 2020 (UTC)

Do you have access to the journal Porn Studies by any chance? I've never read it but I wonder if some articles in it might have useful reference somewhere to some of these pre-internet age people that are proving a bastard to source regardless of their then-prominence. The Drover's Wife (talk) 12:06, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- The Drover's Wife - I don't think so, but you never know. I'll check it out. I just did an epic overhaul on Eric Edwards (actor) last night - what a fascinating guy. Well, his love life! Missvain (talk) 16:03, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Btw, I have requested access to Porn Studies through the Wikipedia Library. It's held in the Taylor & Francis Online resource. Fingers crossed. You can request access here: https://wikipedialibrary.wmflabs.org/. Missvain (talk) 16:21, 16 January 2020 (UTC)

This performer is quite notable and her story tragic. I would be happy to have help with it if you can perhaps pass it on to the Red project members? Thanks. And thanks for all your help with drafts and AfC submissions. Wow!!!!! FloridaArmy (talk) 22:32, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
This woman's entry was recently declined. The Sachem Award is the highest honor awarded in the state of Indiana. Her contributions to art and the resettlement of a historic community make her very notable to my eyes. Not sure if her book was reviewed? Any help most welcome. A cookie for you!
I was originally gonna close that early myself, but I wasn't feeling very bold that day, and forgot I had the AfD open. Thanks! MoonyTheDwarf (Braden N.) (talk) 21:01, 16 January 2020 (UTC) |
- Ha! Glad I could help. Thanks for the cookie and your wiki work! Missvain (talk) 21:10, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Not sure if that's about this AFD, but thanks for trying to find RS, broadly construed. It's odd to have tons of AVN + similar award articles, but delete not excessively obscure winner BLPs, resulting in red links, depending on how the closing admin handles this. For a suicide such as d:Q3621587 it's sad. %ndash;84.46.53.255 (talk) 02:21, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
