As per your comment, I have made that changes. Can you please guide me through? — Preceding unsigned comment added by AnuYog (talk • contribs) 17:45, 17 December 2019 (UTC) As per your comment, I have made that changes. Can you please guide me through?
- AnuYog, can you rewrite the plot so it isn't a copy-paste of the generic summary? Also the roles of the actors should be named in the cast section. Also expand on the critics reviews, for examples: AngusWOOF of the Wikipedia magazine wrote that "(quote)". AnuYog of Wikipedia gave it (rating/max rating), saying that "(quote)". AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:32, 17 December 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, Okay. Will do that. Thanks.
- AngusWOOF, Greetings, Can you please approve this wiki page? I have made changes according to your suggestions. Thanks.
- AngusWOOF, Hey, I'm looking forward to hearing from you soon.
- AnuYog, it looks like it's been accepted and the reception section cleaned up. Congrats! AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 15:06, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, Thanks a lot! If possible, can you have a look at another Wiki page? I'm working on it to get approval.
- AnuYog, it looks like you've been banned as a sockpuppet user. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:36, 28 December 2019 (UTC)

Harvard Business Analytics Program
Greetings,
Can you please approve Harvard Business Analytics Program wiki page? I think I have removed promotional information from the page, it now is more informational.
Thank you, Rahul
- Rahul, this is a very specific program page and should be described briefly in Harvard Business School or other institutions. It should not be a course syllabus or program catalog. Also, it would need to be described by external news sources not from the website or program itself to show notability. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:41, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
My submission for 'Cape God'
Hi!
I recently submitted an article for Allie X's upcoming studio album, Cape God for review. After reviewing it, you declined this submission and gave the following comments:
"Too much reliance on self-published social media, needs more external news sources to review the album."
"Please minimize references to Tweets, replace with interviews or secondary source coverage. Remove Spotify references."
Now, I'll start by saying that I can try to look for secondary sources, however, there might not be much. So far, I found Allie's official Twitter page to be the best source for information about the album, especially its lyrical themes (she always discussed them in a tweet / thread after a single's release). Secondly, you finished your second comment by saying "Remove Spotify references". I use Spotify as my main music service and it allows me to see a song's credits (which is where I got the information from). You seem to be OK with the Apple Music references, however, since I don't use that service, I don't know if a way of seeing credits is possible without having to sign up. If you use Apple Music, could you tell me if there's a way to do that? If there isn't, could you explain why I should remove the Spotify references?
Thanks in advance! EnjoyingMyProblems (talk) 16:02, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- EnjoyingMyProblems, the credits themselves can eventually be cited by the album itself so they don't need to be individually cited to itunes/spotify. Alternatively you can just add a "Source: spotify/itunes (ref)" in the track list header, and have an embedded note to Spotify. As for the Tweets, it would be preferred to have her discuss her album in an interview from secondary source instead of overwhelming the references with self-published Tweets. Also, if there's a way to point out the Billboard references. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:31, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- EnjoyingMyProblems, I've moved the Spotify ones into the embedded notes in the tracklist. But it still has 22 of the 28 references to her own social media. That's way too many to distort the balance of the article. See WP:SELFPUB #5: "the article is not based primarily on such sources." AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:38, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for helping with the credits! I'll try to look for some more secondary sources, but I'll also keep some tweets. Is that OK?
Once again, thank you. EnjoyingMyProblems (talk) 16:47, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks for helping with the credits! I'll try to look for some more secondary sources, but I'll also keep some tweets. Is that OK?
- EnjoyingMyProblems, yes, that would be helpful. If she has been talking about her album in interviews, those would work better for beefing up her background. I did notice she had a large screen capture posted on the tweet so maybe it's coming from another source, perhaps her website. But I think once the album has been released and has music reviews and charting results, it shouldn't be any problem to get it approved. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:20, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- OK, I started looking for some secondary sources for information on the album and I came across an AMA she did on Reddit on the subreddit r/popheads. I think she confirmed that it's an official AMA on her Twitter account (won't use that as a source). Do you think it's a good idea to use some information from that thread? I was able to find some interesting information on how the album's title was created, for example. EnjoyingMyProblems (talk) 19:06, 21 December 2019 (UTC)
- EnjoyingMyProblems, AMA sessions are still Q&A direct self-published sources, so while that would beef up some of the background for the album, it's more important that the album show notability on its own, from the critical reviews and charting. Draft for "List of Epic Games Store free games"
I disagree with your remark that "Wikipedia isn't a catalog / promotions tracker like that." It's the same type as lists for Xbox Games with Gold and Playstation Plus Instant Game Collection games:
- List of Games with Gold games
- List of Instant Game Collection games (PAL region)
- List of Instant Game Collection games (North America)
The list for Epic Games Store gets requested a lot, and there's no permanent and public record of it.
Also, what's wrong with its references? Those are all well-known gaming websites and news sources. And how would you recommend that I fix it? If you're not familiar with gaming or tech websites, perhaps we should get someone else who is familiar with gaming sources to review approval. — Preceding unsigned comment added by HSukePup (talk • contribs) 06:06, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
- HSukePup, discuss it at the talk page for the Epic Games Store. You'd also need to show that video game articles are keeping running lists of the entire weekly offering. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 06:09, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
- When I was correcting some references on that list, I did come across this running list of weekly game offerings, here: https://progameguides.com/lists/epic-games-store-free-games-list/ - since december 12, 2018. DreamPhreak (talk) 02:14, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- DreamPhreak, doesn't seem like a site that would make the WP:VG/RS. Most of the WP:VG regulars have chimed in on the talk page. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 02:23, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
Draft: Volunteer Fire Department (A Series Of Unfortunate Events)
Hello AngusWOOF. Thankyou for your advice on my talk page. I had my article declined by KylieTastic because she claimed that my article was "mainly bulked with long lists." I do hope my article gets accepted this time. it is currently submitted for review. Here is a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Volunteer_Fire_Department_(A_Series_Of_Unfortunate_Events)#Volunteer_Fire_Department_%28A_Series_Of_Unfortunate_Events%29 Thanks, Dswitz10734 Dswitz10734 (talk) 17:33, 28 December 2019 (UTC)
Good evening AngusWOOF. I was wondering if maybe you could remove the sources that aren't reliable. It says " Any editor can remove unsupported statements if they cannot be verified by means of a reference to a reliable source." I've had a couple of editors come by and nobody's removed any.But they have removed certain things. So if you could please guide me in the right direction. Thanks.Riphaleyedits (talk) 20:51, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Riphaleyedits
- Dswitz10734, I suggest starting a discussion at the characters list to see if perhaps some of the characters could be reorganized into a VFD subsection, but if most of the characters are connected with the VFD anyway there might not be a point to splitting them off from there. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:36, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Riphaleyedits, obviously the fandom wikia links and citations should be removed right away. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:37, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
Requesting for this draft to be reviewed and start the move process into main space. Please advise thank you so much. Allanbcool (talk) 08:39, 31 December 2019 (UTC)
- Allanbcool, I submitted it and it looks like it was put into mainspace. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:13, 31 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi AngusWOOF, I really appreciated your feedback on my first article! I have improved it by adding critical perspective of the production's faults to make it more balanced. Would be great if you could take another look.
BrightVamp (talk) 16:47, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- BrightVamp, can you add the critic's names into the reviews section, like: "BrightVamp of Wikipedia said that ..." AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:49, 1 January 2020 (UTC)
- BrightVamp, are there comments from critics outside of the Massachusetts area? Trying to see how this can have national coverage. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:38, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi AngusWOOF, one non Massachusetts review is nystagereview.com, which I removed because I wasn't sure it was a notable enough source. https://nystagereview.com/2019/12/15/from-massachusetts-moby-dick-a-nantucket-sleigh-ride-of-an-adventure/ The show is otherwise of national interest because the creators and cast are current Broadway-level folks, and the show is likely intended as an out-of-town tryout for a Broadway transfer, as suggested by one of the reviews. Other evidence of national level interest are the multiple articles covering its development and productions in playbill.com and broadwayworld.com (I can get links later)
It also had a production in New York City at the museum of natural history, which I mention in the article, though I wasn't able to find professional critic's reviews. One by whale scientists is here: https://www.atlasobscura.com/articles/moby-dick-musical BrightVamp (talk) 19:52, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- BrightVamp, how about this one: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/there-going-be-moby-dick-musical-180972880/ AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:55, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

- http://www.playbill.com/article/read-reviews-for-world-premiere-of-dave-malloys-moby-dick-musical has a bunch of critic reviews links, including the Bob Verini one https://nystagereview.com/2019/12/15/from-massachusetts-moby-dick-a-nantucket-sleigh-ride-of-an-adventure/ (new york stage review) and Iris Fanger (metrowest, still boston area)
- BrightVamp, I've moved the article into the mainspace, so you can improve it from there. I think beefing up the reception section with the sources provided above would help a lot. Thanks again. Looks promising. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 20:10, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- BrightVamp, regarding New York Stage Review, seems to be a small publication but Bob Verini has written for Variety magazine, so probably okay to use based on Verini's credentials, and it was linked by Playbill magazine. http://nystagereview.com/about-us/ AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 20:13, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF, thank you so much for your work on improving this article to being at least starter wikipedia worthy! And those are some excellent links and references, I'll work on incorporating them! I'm learning a lot from your example. Happy new year!

Draft:Tina Antolini
Many thanks for taking a look at the Draft:Tina Antolini article, much appreciated! I've done some additional tweaks, and hopefully it's a bit better now.
Regarding Wikipedia:THREE, for three sources to show notability, what about these? They aren't published by the subject, or institutions she's worked at, but do contain interview quotes, so perhaps not ideal.

Kj cheetham (talk) 15:29, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Kj cheetham, the Atlanta one is like 2/3 Q&A so it would be considered primary, so it doesn't say much about her career other than that she became a story producer at Pop-Up. It doesn't go into her past and such. Food and Wine's a little better. It focuses on her work with SFA / Gravy podcasts and mentions her school background briefly. It also lists her age. The Gazette one doesn't detail her life as much as it could, but it makes the Gravy part more notable, and that section should be built up and mentioned in the lead paragraph along with Pop-Up and other major work. I was hoping there would be more like the UMass and Hampshire writeups but not so directly connected from the school. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:28, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- Kj cheetham, also you can discuss some of her awards into the biography section since they are related there. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 20:25, 3 January 2020 (UTC)
- AngusWOOF I'm assuming the UMass/Hamspire ones are effectively press releases, given she's an alumni. I'll do a quick bit of further online searching in the coming days to see if can find any more actual news articles. Good idea about the awards. Many thanks, Kj cheetham (talk) 20:42, 3 January 2020 (UTC)

- Kj cheetham, the sections need more detail, like what specifically does Gravy cover? What is the format of the podcast? What is the feedback for the show. Same with the others. Was there a particular episode she was noted for producing / reception for that? The authoring of the book can also be expanded with critical reception. Sir, I have contributed to the article "Mahatma Gandhi Central University protest using my username "Rohitmishra001". But the article was deleted due to copy right issue. Now, I am unable to login using the above mentioned username and getting notification "login token is expired". Thaat's why, I created the same article using my other username "Rohitmishra01" in my own words removing all the copied text from other sources, yesterday intially it was accepted for article for creation after few hours it was declined by mentioning "Article is not written in neutral point of view". Both usernames are of mine. I used the second username to create the page when I was unable to login using my first username. So, could you please help me out ? Thanking you.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mahatma_Gandhi_Central_University_protest --Rohitmishra01 (talk) 05:39, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
- Rohitmishra01, the main issue with that article is that you have a conflict of interest on it, so it needs to be scrubbed by a neutral editor not connected to the topic. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 16:44, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
Sir, I request you to go through the link/reference which I have given. If you found anything non-neutral or biased please tell me the way to delete the page. The whole India knows about the "Mahatma Gandhi Central University protest" and why it was happened. Earlier I created the same article using my other username and fortunately it was accepted for the article for creation but some unknown users copied text from references and added in the article that's why the article was deleted due to copy right issue. I didn't get enough time to fix it and afterwards I was unable to login using the same username. I created new username to write the article again and this time I removed everything that was copied and write it in own words. It was declined by mentioning" article needs to be scrubbed". It took almost 3 months to collect the information and references to write the article. If you want to get information about previous same article. I'd love to share it to you. As we know Wikipedia has always been playing a vital role in letting world know about the important things across the globe. Hope this time Wikipedia will include one of the India's largest public universities protest to it's space so the whole world may know about it. Therefore, you are requested to go through any link/ reference if you still found anything non-neutral please let me know the way to delete this article forever. Fortunately, if you don't find anything non-neutral in article please accept it. We'll continue to improve it daily.
Thanking you.--Rohitmishra01 (talk) 07:07, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
- Rohitmishra01, let me see if someone at WP:COIN can help. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:48, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
Please tell me the way to delete this draft article. "331dot" has sent the previous text as baseline which was accepted as the article for creation, earlier. So, the article would be rewritten in a neutral way. Neutral editor will scrub the article so that it would be published. They will rewrite / unbias the article.
Thanking you--Rohitmishra01 (talk) 14:58, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- Rohitmishra01, I see that 331dot deleted the article in the mainspace because it had copyright violations, and then emailed you an earlier reference article. But according to 331dot's talk page, you are requesting that so that YOU can rewrite the article. That's not a neutral editor. Who are you getting to scrub the article? Hello AngusWoof,
We are a Public Relations agency that represents actors/actresses. This gentleman created a Wikipedia page for himself and falsified shows/movies that he worked on that he did not. I edited the page to remove the inaccurate details, but he keeps undoing my edits. None of the sources he has provided proves that his information is valid. Please advise how to fix this so he cannot keep adding false information/information without a source, which goes against the guidelines of Wikipedia.

Thanks! TPRINC (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:03, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- TPRINC, If it's unsourced or poorly sourced (goodreads, IMDb), you can delete it, but ensure in your comments that this is the correction you are doing. If it's decently sourced, as with The Black Dahlia entry https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VKRC82Jim0 that shows him as Executive Producer credit, you can leave those parts alone. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 01:28, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- TPRINC, I'd also change your username so you are representing just one person. Group accounts aren't allowed on Wikipedia. See WP:ORGNAME AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 01:30, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi AngusWOOF,
Thanks for your help, I will change my name immediately. That Youtube link to The Black Dahlia film, if you watch the trailer, it does not list him as Executive Producer. He posted the trailer on his personal Youtube channel and his name is nowhere in the trailer. He simply added his name in the description of the video.
- TPRINC, oh, I see it's a YouTube account that pretends to be Lion's Gate. Nevermind. Yes, you can remove those. It's different if it were a reliable source from the actual Lion's Gate. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 01:39, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- TPRINC, you should also declare your COI for the articles that you're connected to as per WP:DISCLOSE. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 01:40, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi AngusWoof,
Thank you for your help. I have deleted the inaccurate and false information twice, but he keeps going on his page and undoing my changes. How do I prevent this from happening?
TPRINC (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 01:42, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- You can try a discussion at the talk page. If he reverts too many times, we can warn him for edit warring / vandalism. As an aside, Is there a better source for the Miami Vice and other show credits? I don't see his name in the closing credits for the show episodes, so I need a source to confirm his crew role as a Marine Director or Marine Coordinator. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:09, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
- TPRINC, I noticed that Praxidicae has scrubbed out all those filmography entries too, so hopefully what is left can be rewritten into a decent biography, perhaps as an author. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:11, 10 January 2020 (UTC)

- The Drunk Tunes charting is for the entire album, not for the particular song / track. That isn't enough to establish notability as a WP:COMPOSER or for WP:MUSICBIO. There are way too many other name drops. You need news articles that focus on Mall G himself. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 17:03, 10 January 2020 (UTC)
Janice Perry peacock tag
Hi. I can't figure out what merits the peacock tag on the Janice Perry article. (I edited it when I reviewed the article; maybe it's something I added.) The editor who wrote the article has not had a lot of success around here. Her talk page is littered with declines, and this is the first article that has been published. In the interest of encouraging a new user, can you edit the article to get rid of the peacock language and remove the tag? Thanks, and glad to have a reason to leave you a message/say hello - we've been crossing paths on WP for a while. JSFarman (talk) 01:02, 11 January 2020 (UTC)
- And then I actually read WP:PEACOCK and now I get why you tagged the article. I don't have time to do the fundamental rewrite/research that would be required at the moment but I will leave info about clean-up on the editor's talk page. That said, I think that tag is bitey -- particularly for new editors -- and we should have a gentler version that assumes good faith. JSFarman (talk) 16:02, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- JSFarman, yes, it's bitey but a lot of newcomers create articles that intend to promote their subjects and end up making them read like those resume profiles that you see at the bottom of journals or as profiles in conventions. Basically anything that leads with "award-winning" is prime for peacock tagging. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:59, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, @AngusWOOF: as per you mentioned, I have worked on the draft once again. Do let me know what necessary I need to do more for the draft being accepted as a Wikipedia articles. Thanks Target Barsado (talk) 09:47, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
- Target Barsado, it really needs more balanced reception. The ones provided look like advertising taglines you'd see on the back of book covers. You need negative or meh reviews that criticize the series in addition to the positive reviews. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:43, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Draft: Refugees in Towns (Project)
Hi AngusWOOF, I really appreciated your comments and have gone through and substantially increased references to reliable outside sources. I hope this one is good enough to resolve the issues you outlined, and once again, thank you for your help and hope you have a happy new year!

G12 declination
I declined the G 12 you placed on Draft:MAMMOTH (Nuclear Software). I believe the source material qualifies as public domain. Let me know if you consider that and you think I've missed something.
If I'm reading correctly, the declination of the submission was solely based on the copyright concern. I think there are a lot of problems with this draft (see the talk page of the editor for another example), but unless I've missed something, copyright issues are not one of the problems.--S Philbrick(Talk) 20:57, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
- Sphilbrick, see my response on editor's page. I think the WP:PD part applies. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 20:59, 13 January 2020 (UTC)
Approved draft!
Hello, AngusWOOF! I would like to thank you for your approval of my draft @ Draft:List of awards and nominations received by Deadliest Catch. It's much appreciated. Cheers and happy 2020 to you! CYAce01 (talk) 04:11, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
- CYAce01, no prob. Thanks for making it straightforward to approve with the referencing. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:01, 14 January 2020 (UTC)
Hi. Since your evaluation earlier today I've added more cites and some content to Draft:Annette Thomas. Do you think it now shows enough notability for me move to into a stub article? I'd organise it better into basic sections, add dates, and generally ce it further first - but there would be no further evidence of notability. It fits in well with the WP:WikiProject Women drive, so I'd quite like to do that. Rwendland (talk) 17:28, 15 January 2020 (UTC)
- Rwendland, the verbiage still needs to be converted to something more time specific. Change "living the past 25 years" to since (year), and put a year on the medal for the Yale part. It should also explain when she became a board member for the various organizations. The best would be to list out the WP:THREE best external news sources in the AFC review section that cover her life that aren't coming from her organizations. Make sure those aren't press releases or passing mentions of her position changes. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:41, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Joseph A. Camp
AngusWOOF, several updates to this page have been made in accordance with your recommendations. Camp is notable enough to be verified on Facebook (www.facebook.com/joeycamp2020) and all of Google products www.youtube.com/joeycamp2020, and www.youtube.com/campjosepha) and has his own ballotpedia page (which is completely editorial written) https://ballotpedia.org/Joseph_Camp and his own IMDb credits for his movie roles (all of which has been included in the currently draft page here on WikiPedia).
Is there a way to review the page now with the changes?

2601:282:500:750:8D80:C686:B124:89B5, please remove the extensive social media links per WP:ELMINOFFICIAL, he just needs one official website. Also if you are connected to his campaigns or to Camp you need to disclose that per WP:COI You should list the top 3 external news sources on his talk page or in the AFC comments section WP:THREE AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:36, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Withdraw Speedy Delete - first two links check out (if this is who the article is really about) — Preceding unsigned comment added by AyushiKaurGill (talk • contribs)
- AyushiKaurGill, you are missing the point. The person is not notable and the article is promotional, as discussed during the AFD. No news has come since then to make him more notable. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 18:14, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
Rejection of Nicolas Porter draft
Hi, thanks for reviewing the draft for 'https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Nicolas_Porter_(dentist)'. However, I need your help in making this article better, if you can, please. The moment I add anything that would make this subject stand out, and there is quite a bit of verifiable content to do that, some other editor would call it 'promotional' as it is already written under the review and delete the draft. How do I, then, make a subject stand out keeping the tone and content of the article neutral at the same time?
I have tried everything with multiple article submissions and it now just seems that drafts are rejected simply because they are paid contributions, even though I make sure that I disclose it without being asked. I am trying my best to follow the guidelines and write only neutral content using verifiable sources about notable subjects. A person who has been awarded and recognized by notable sources for his work (links provided), has changed the landscape of dentistry in several US states by providing low-cost and free treatment plans, has provided free treatment worth millions of dollars to thousands of people - I fail to understand how this person is not notable and note-worthy for other editors, regardless of his article's status as a paid contribution.
Sorry for the long message, but I am trying to do better and learn. Thank you in advance for the help. Ashley.Bell (talk) 22:09, 16 January 2020 (UTC)
- Ashley.Bell, if you are creating the article as a paid contribution, then you have conflict of interest in wanting his article to be on Wikipedia, so there is very little you can contribute directly to the article, and a lot of it would have to be contributed by talk page requests. If he's a local dentist who is well respected in his community, that's nice and all, but what makes him nationally or internationally notable? Are there external news articles outside of his local community that cover his life? Is he making regular rounds as an expert on talk shows or has his own television program on a major cable network? AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:24, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
He has been called upon as a guest on a number of talk shows - I can provide the references and links to them. I thought that would make the article 'promotional'. He has been recognized outside his community, too. Wouldn't adding too many details about these things make it sound like an advertisement? For another article subject, I was asked to include fewer details of this kind because they said the article should be expanded upon by other editors or through edit requests eventually. I would be really grateful if you can provide some actual guidance here. I am trying to comply with the guidelines, but some of the other editors have made it really hard to do so. Thank you in advance! Ashley.Bell (talk) 15:20, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
Joust (game)
Hi AngusWOOF, I've been trying to research on the history of this game for the past year or more. I remember playing it or seeing it played in the past, but it was a long time ago, and I don't remember exactly if it was on a physical board or on a computer, or if it was described in a website. I didn't even remember the name of the game. I was fortunate enough to recently stumble upon an article regarding the game, and the article as you know mentions Joust being a computer implementation but whose ultimate origin is unknown. I was fortunate to come upon a YouTube video of the game but a different computer implementation of it with the name "Game of Knights". Both these computer implementations appear to have been made sometime in the mid 1990s or a few years earlier. I've researched a lot, and unfortunately have come up empty on more historical information.
The game is also related to a challenge event in the reality t.v. series Survivor, and that game goes by various names depending upon the design of the board, but one name is "Squared Off". But instead of knights moving around the board and burning the squares that have been previously occupied, people walk one space to an adjacent square. Essentially it's a Chess King's move.
Moreover, I was going to add variants to this article that are related to Joust specifically variants that connect it with the Knight's tour game. The Knight's tour is a solitaire game (only one person plays), but there are two-player variants of the Knight's tour but still using only one knight (whereas Joust is two players and two knights). Instead of writing separate articles for the single knight two-player games, I would just add them to this Joust article. An example of such a game, is where two players move the single knight in alternate turns burning any previous squares that the knight had occupied. The first player that cannot move loses (or in the misere version, wins).
I will try to research more on the history of Joust, and that's why I haven't resubmitted the article yet. But this article will have a lot of content and sources. Thank you.Aamma58 (talk) 10:31, 17 January 2020 (UTC)Aamma58
- Aamma58, another option is to add the variant to the Knight's tour page as a section since it is Knight's Tour with two pieces going, kind of like the light cycles in Tron. Joust (chess game) can then redirect there and the video game part can expand from there. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 14:27, 17 January 2020 (UTC)
