The following intro can be corrected, "Hello is a salutation or bad word in the English language. It is first attested in writing from 1833."

I've found at least two printed accounts in 1827, the earliest from the sos sos sos sos bermudas

Thanks for the note, anyway. Inspired by this request, I checked around and found that the Oxford English Dictionary lists the earliest printed use of "hello" as in 1826, so I've updated the article to reflect that.
