Binay Tamang or Binoy Tamang (born on 28th December 1965) is the president of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM). Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) is a registered unrecognized political party which is dedicated towards the development and betterment of Darjeeling hills and areas around it. The party was founded on 7 October 2007. In 1986, he joined Gorkhaland Agitation as an activist. In 1997, he joined the GNLF party, and later on, in 1999, he became the President of Sadarwan Constituency. In 1999, he fought the DGHC's election independently and lost the election and before fighting the election he left GNLF. After 1999, he started working as a social worker, he was dedicated towards the welfare of the deprived families and he made sure that he was always available for the needy ones.In the year 2007, he joined the press and publication, after Harkabahadur Chettri take the post prominent to Asst. General Secretary. In 1993, he got married to Sanjhana Thapa Tamang. He has two sisters and two children. He has done his schooling from, St. Robert's Higher Secondary School, Darjeeling, and persued graduation from St. Joseph's College in Bachelors of Arts.
