The gens Maecia was a plebeian family at Rome. Members of this gens are rarely mentioned before the time of Cicero, but in Imperial times they rose to prominence, achieving the consulship on at several occasions.[1] In a plaque sepulchral, which is found at the Colle della Giustizia in Atri, there was word of an Aufalena Sfamila, who consecrates the monument to C. Tullio C. F. Frontoni of the Maecia tribe.[2]
