Military ranks of Brazil
Appearance
The military hierarchy is the basis of the organization of the Armed Forces, Military Police and Military Fire Corps and makes up the chain of command to be followed by all members of the Forces in their organizational structure. In Brazil, the Constitution provides the President of the Republic with the rank of Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
Classification
According to the Military Statute (Law 6,880, of December 9, 1980), the military is divided into two classes: Commissioned Officers , classified by rank; and Enlisted , classified by graduations. These classes are subdivided into others according to the level of responsibility and professional qualification. Each rank corresponds to an insignia.
