Angelo Acosta Delacruz (born February 15, 2002) is a Filipino rapper, songwriter and occasional actor[1][2][3][4]. He joined the second season of the Philippine edition of The Voice Teens[5] where he was mentored by apl.de.ap.[5][6] Beyond music, Acosta has also participated in acting, appearing both in television and film, he also worked as a commercial model.

Early and personal life

Acosta was born on February 15, 2002 in Quezon City, Philippines. He has a sibling named Lorraine, their dad died when he was at a young age & their mother Geraldine had to raise them on her own.[6]

On a radio interview, Acosta said he "grew up listening" to his main musical influences, Gloc 9l, Drake and the Black Eyed Peas. Acosta said he "started rapping at the age of 7" because of them.[7]

Career

On March 2018, Acosta independently released his debut EP entitled "Swerte". [7] The carrier single's music video with the same title was released a month later and had 100,000 views within two days after the upload on his Facebook page.[7][8]

On January 2019, Acosta was among the recipients of the "Multimedia King Award" in the annual Gintong Alab held in Luneta Park, Manila, marking the first ever award of his career.[9]

On June 2019, Acosta became under fire because of a tweet in Twitter where he was called out by a layout artist that he commissioned for a cover art, the artist claimed that Acosta "didn't pay her an amount of 16$ that he promised to pay" even after several months. Acosta apologized & settled the payment immediately only after the tweet got viral.[10]

The Voice Teens

On 2020, Acosta participated in the blind auditions of the second season of the Philippine edition of The Voice Teens, he sang Shanti Dope's local hit Nadarang and managed to make Bamboo Manalac and apl.de.ap turn. He picked the latter as his coach.[5]
