is there any way to put two or more links on one tab, using the standard template for tab headers, start tab? Here is one example of this template: User:Sm8900/tab header.
Please ping me when you reply. thanks!!!! --Sm8900 (talk) 04:30, 22 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Sm8900: This can be done on tab n with
freeform-n = yes
. Here is an example to add a tab 9 with two links on separate lines:
| freeform-9 = yes | link-9 = User:Sm8900/user boxes | link2-9 = User:Sm8900/Awards and recognition | tab-9 = User boxes<br />Awards
- When
freeform-9 = yes
,tab-9
can be anything to place on the tab. The only purpose oflink-9
andlink2-9
is to determine when the tab will be styled differently to indicate you are on one of the pages.link-9
andlink2-9
are not used to make links whenfreeform-9 = yes
. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:07, 23 March 2020 (UTC)- wow, that is good to know. thanks!!! --Sm8900 (talk) 01:14, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

Posting a created page so it is live and on wikipedia ?
I have created a page but cannot see it on Wikipedia ? Why is this. This is my first page I have created. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MOGADON1 (talk • contribs) 08:53, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- MOGADON1 You edited your user page, which is not article space, but a place for you to introduce yourself to the Wikipedia community in the context of your Wikipedia use. As it is not article space, it does not appears in searches of Wikipedia(unless you put "User:" at the start when searching) and is not indexed by search engines. New users cannot directly create articles; you will need to use Articles for Creation to create and submit a draft for review before it is formally placed in the encyclopedia. What you wrote on your user page, however, would not be accepted, as it reads as a how-to guide and not an encyclopedia article. Encyclopedia articles should only summarize what independent reliable sources state about a subject. Successfully creating a new article is the absolute hardest task to perform on Wikipedia, and it is recommended that you either gain experience editing existing articles first, to get a feel for how Wikipedia operates, or at least read Your First Article and use the new user tutorial before attempting to create an article. 331dot (talk) 09:04, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- If you really believe that this Moynihan Scheme has encyclopedic significance (which is independent of whether it's beneficial), and if you are not personally connected to it, then follow 331dot's advice. If on the other hand you are connected -- perhaps you work, or a member of your family works, for a/the company responsible -- then please read and digest Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. (The latter in a nutshell: Do not attempt to create an article.) -- Hoary (talk) 09:12, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
'Would like to ask how to edit a Section Title inserted in another Section's content.
In particular, the page mentioned has a section for: "Concerts" with sub-heading for "Solo Concerts" and "Affiliated Concerts" . The title of the next section, "Accolades" is visible under "Affiliated Concerts"...but checking the codes..the codes were arranged logically.
Please help!

Vilnius Academy of Arts
Hello, I was currently editing information about Vilnius Academy of Arts (in Lithuanian) in wikipedia. I wanted to put "history" and other important information about Academy from it's official webpage www.vda.lt, however, it seems I don't know how to do it correctly. First time my edit was rejected, second time i was blocked by user Homo ergaster. Could you please unblock me and please tell me what I am doing wrong so I wouldn't happen again? Most of information on Vilnius Academy of Arts pages in wikipedia is old so I want to renew it as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding.
I look forward for your reply! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bastille~ltwiki (talk • contribs) 12:43, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Bastille~ltwiki: The English Wikipedia page Vilnius Academy of Arts hasn't been edited since last year, so I think you are probably referring to activity on the Lithuanian Wikipedia. Each Wikipedia is a separate project, with it's own rules, administrators, etc., so any issues you may have would need to be addressed at their help desk (I can't read Lithuanian, so I can't provide a link for you – it should be named similarly to this help desk, though). —[AlanM1 (talk)]— 12:53, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

List of Teochew people: The person who found Huy Fong Food is of Teochew decent. https:/upwiki/wikipedia/en/8/87/Huy_Fong_Foods_logo.gif — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2607:FEA8:E380:364:E87E:8FBA:BC2F:D9C6 (talk) 14:18, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, IP user. You are welcome to add Tran to that list, if two conditions are satisfied:
- you can find suitable (reliable, independent) sources to show that Tran meets Wikipedia's criteria for notability;
- you can find a reliable published source that says that he is Teochew.
- If you cannot find those, then he should not be added. (Actually, hardly any of the entries in that list are sourced, and in the couple of cases where I have looked at the article about them, that does not mention that they are Teochew. As the notice says at the top, that List article has multiple issues. Please don't add to them). --ColinFine (talk) 16:04, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
Removing the 'background information pane. EARL OKIN
Everything seems to be editable EXCEPT something called a 'background information' pane. On the page about me, (EARL OKIN) everything in the article itself is correct, but that pane includes a dreadful picture of me AND an incorrect website link. How can I edit the pane or, better still, delete it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Earl Okin (talk • contribs) 15:54, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- Hello, Earl Okin. Thank you for not editing the article directly: people are strongly advised not to edit articles about themselves (or subjects they are closely connected with), but instead to make an edit request on the article's talk page.
- That box is called an Infobox, and if you do open the article for editing, you'll see that right at the top of the article it says
{{Infobox musical artist
. That is where the information in that pane is held. - I have just edited it to change the website. As for the picture: the only other picture currently usable (because it has already been uploaded to Wikimedia commons) is File:2014 02 16 Earl Orkin TwickFolk.JPG (yes, the filename has your name wrong, but that doesn't get displayed anywhere. Click the link to see the actual image). If you wanted to change to show that one, that is easily done. If you want a different picture, you can upload it provided the copyright holder - who is probably not you - specifically licenses it in a way that anybody can reuse it for any purpose: that is a requirement for images used on Wikipedia. If you have such an image, come back and ask again, and we'll see if we can sort you out. I remember you standing up for non-corporate comedians at the Fringe Business Meeting years ago)--ColinFine (talk) 16:19, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
Problem with edit box in source mode?
What it is, is when I'm editing in source mode and then preview, having previewed, the editing box becomes weird—the "> Cite" tab disappears completely, and the rest is unresponsive (e.g. impossible to use any special characters). I think this has only been happening for a couple of days, although I might've just not noticed. See image---> for what I see. Thanks for any help all. Stay safe. ——SN54129 16:11, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
PS: Just tested it here, and it seems OK. Is it just article space, I wonder? ——SN54129 16:11, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- That doesn't look like "show preview" that's "show changes". It doesn't happen with my editor. Try clicking on "Special characters" it might get removed. Or you can go to Preferences->beta features and enable "New wikitext mode" which is much better than the original editor (you can read about it here). You can also ask your question in WP:Village pump (technical) where there are editors who are experts in these things .--SharʿabSalam▼ (talk) 18:28, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
How to change redirect that has R from merge
I'd like to change Charge Sheet, which is currently a redirect to Chargesheet (film), to redirect to Chargesheet which has header at the top for the film, but the redirect has R from merge on from a past merge that created the redirect. Do I just leave the template or put a message above it that the redirect has been changed? (Alternately I could put a heading on the film's article that points to Chargesheet.) Thank you. April Fools' and RMs
Although I normally wouldn't do this, but on April Fools' Day, am I allowed to make an RM and tag it with Template:Humor? For example, would I allowed to propose a move from Earth to Mars as long as I tagged it with the template I mentioned? I read WP:FOOLS, but it is not entirely clear on whether it is allowed or not. It only talks about AfDs. Interstellarity (talk) 20:48, 24 March 2020 (UTC)
- There's many views on April Fool's, but WP:APRILFOOLS says don't disrupt article space, so probably no. If you do, it'll get speedy closed or deleted anyway. Joseph2302 (talk) 21:16, 24 March 2020 (UTC)

- Please note that the subject of the article DIED in Leeds, not really "from" Leeds. Greenhow was from (born?) in North Shields, Tynemouth. He was a surgeon. This should be added I think at the bottom of the article, but I cannot do it. Please fix and add where he was from and his occupation to the categories at the bottom of the page. - Not clear (to me) in the article exactly where he was from. It says where his father was from but I cannot see where it states about Greenhow himself. - It doesn't bother me. However, if there are editors who think it is confusing you can use the colour that is similar to red like mine for example.--SharʿabSalam▼ (talk) 13:43, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- There is a small issue with your signature. It doesn't provide a link to your talk page. Read what the guidelines and policies of customised signatures says. It says that you should provide a link to your talk page.--SharʿabSalam▼ (talk) 14:20, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- Ask at the accessibility wikiproject, you're more likely to find people with sight issue like colour blindness. I think your signature will cause problems because there is not a big enough contrast between the ink colour and the background. - X201 (talk) 16:43, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

- Thank you for saying that you are working for the person whose article you want to edit.
- You have a conflict of interest. Please read and digest WP:Conflict of interest. In particular, you must disclose this conflict of interest.
- You say you have problems at "wiki commons". Wikimedia Commons is not Wikipedia, so this isn't the place to ask about problems there; but I'll briefly comment anyway. If Wikimedia Commons says that the file does not fit the criteria, then if I (whose account at Wikimedia Commons is not too new) were to attempt to upload it, then the file would still not fit the criteria. You need a file that does fit the criteria -- and if there's a question about copyright, then you need evidence that the file either (i) is in the public domain (according to the legal definition of "public domain", not its everyday interpretation) or (ii) is copyleft in one or other of the ways recognized by Wikimedia Commons. -- Hoary (talk) 22:30, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

I don't really use a lot of resources other than my own research it's not like I'm trying to prove anything here it's more like a way to remind myself later on in the future. So I'm probably going to start pretty soon even if there's no response or answer _here_ [ If it violates something "'Like various rules'" just delete it I guess? ] ( And I'll just go back to using a notebook & ink pen.) 🖊 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Loviel (talk • contribs) 21:37, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

why can't i upload images from the web that are public domain? thx — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tadtakano (talk • contribs) 23:53, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Tadtakano: Since you have only a few edits, just stop using your current account and create an account with the name you want. You can upload public domain images, but most of the images you find on the web are not that. RudolfRed (talk) 00:03, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Tadtakano. You
may or may not want toshould change your user name, but I don't think that's what your question is actually about. The Wikipedia page you have been editing, User:Tadtakano is called your user page, and is a place for you to share information about yourself as a Wikipedia editor. While a limited amount of other information is acceptable there, it may not be a Wikipedia article, or look like one. I have therefore moved it to Draft:Tad Takano. - If you want to try the very difficult task of creating a Wikipedia article, then your first article has useful information;
but writing about yourself is very strongly discouraged. If Wikipedia ever has an article about you, it will not belong to you, it will not necessarily say what you want it to say, and it should be based almost entirely on what people who have no connection with you have chosen to publish about you, not on what you have said: see NARTIST. This is because Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia, and not a directory or promotional site. - On the subject of images, please read WP:Public domain. The legal meaning of the phrase is much narrower than how people often use it. --ColinFine (talk) 11:38, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Apologies: I've just looked at the draft, and seen it isn't an autobiography. You should definitely change your user name, or create a new one as RudolfRed says. The rest of my reply stands, though. --ColinFine (talk) 11:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- And I've added a header, Tadtakano, with lots of useful links, and a button for when you think it is ready to be submitted for review as an article. At present it is not ready, as you have no references at all, and therefore the draft does nothing to establish that Takano is notable. If you are connected with Takano in some way, you should also read about conflict of interest. --ColinFine (talk) 11:56, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Apologies: I've just looked at the draft, and seen it isn't an autobiography. You should definitely change your user name, or create a new one as RudolfRed says. The rest of my reply stands, though. --ColinFine (talk) 11:40, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

- @Maineartists: Is it related to this discussion about a possible error with that bot? User_talk:Kanashimi#Cewbot_adding_Template:Vital_article_to_Portal_talk: RudolfRed (talk) 01:15, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- RudolfRed It's just that daily when I would check my "Watchlist", I would see page after page being edited: "The article is listed in the level 5 page" by Cewbot. There was no rhyme nor reason to subject, just a mass editing. Was wondering what it all meant. Thanks! Maineartists (talk) 14:51, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

The Swedish Academy of Realist Art, Simrishamn - does not exist on Wikipedia.org
Hi Wikipedia!
I wonder if you can help, I am struggling to add a new article in Wikipedia.org that doesn't exist but I don't understand how I get started. There is an art school in the south of Sweden called The Swedish Academy of Realist Art. It is only listed on Wikipedia.se not Wikipedia.org. I also have a picture I would like to add. The Swedish Academy of Realist Art is listed under "Art Schools around" the world in Wikipedia.org, but when you click on it (its in red) it doesn't exist. I think it should exist and I would like to add just a small text and factual description of the School. Are you able to help me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Longstocking2020 (talk • contribs) 08:43, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Longstocking2020 Many schools do meet the Wikipedia definition of a notable organization, but an article must do more than what you describe. Wikipedia is not for merely telling about something. Wikipedia articles must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about the school. Please read Your First Article for more information. If you think that you can write such an article, you can use Articles for Creation to create and submit a draft for review by another editor. 331dot (talk) 09:17, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Also asked and answered at the Teahouse. Longstocking2020, please don't post questions in multiple places. --ColinFine (talk) 11:59, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- Longstocking2020 I Googled the Academy and cannot find any significant coverage that would suggest notability. The Academy's Swedish Wikipedia article 5 is unsourced, suggesting a large barrier to getting an English article accepted. You're better off adding a line to Simrishamn.(Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this:

- Victoriiaagp You drafted the article in your sandbox, and it will stay there until you submit it for a review using Articles for Creation. If you were to submit it at this time, it would almost certainly be rejected, as you have no independent reliable sources with significant coverage to support the content of the article. A Wikipedia article about a business should only summarize what independent reliable sources say about it, showing how it meets Wikipedia's special definition of a notable organization. Not every business merits an article on Wikipedia, even within the same field. You may find it helpful to read Your First Article and use the new user tutorial to learn more about Wikipedia. Writing a new article is the absolute hardest task to perform on Wikipedia, and it's good to have some knowledge about the process first.
- If you are associated with this business, you will need to review the conflict of interest and paid editing policies as you would have some formal required disclosures to make. 331dot (talk) 09:53, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
Delay in saving the latest version?
Hello,
I recently edited the Indonesia article, but it seems that I'm the only one who can see the revisions. I use Firefox when I saved the revisions, and when I opened another browser (not logging in) and load the article, my revisions don't show up. It is, however, recorded in the Indonesia article's History page and My ID's Contributions page. Is there a delay or something in the latest version of the article being saved?
Here's some proofs:

- @AdaCiccone: I see the current version with your changes when I log out. Your other browser may have cached the article before your edit. Try to bypass your cache in that browser. If it still fails then try a null edit on the page to update the cache in our servers. In the past we sometimes served an old version to unregistered users but I haven't heard of this in a long time. - That other browser of mine is Microsoft Edge by the way, and I set it always to erase everything (history, cookies etc) upon closing. I just did that manually, and when I load the article, and yes, my changes do show up. It seems that the option 'to delete everything on close' on Edge is not working properly. Thank you for your response, @PrimeHunter:, that had me a bit worried for a whlie :D AdaCiccone (talk) 16:10, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Linking a subject's website: once or twice?
I noticed several times the same URL of the subject's website is included both in an infobox and in the External links section. Is that correct? Or should it be inserted just once? And where? --CiaPan (talk) 20:38, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- I think at least some editors go by not if it's a short article, if it's relatively long why not. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:56, 26 March 2020 (UTC)
- @CiaPan: Two links is usually correct. The infobox should display the url (without http(s):// and an optional www.) The external links section should not. It can use Official website. PrimeHunter (talk) 20:57, 26 March 2020 (UTC)

Requested page move
A Wikipedia article used to be called 1993 Aurora, Colorado, shooting ... with a comma after the word "Colorado". In the past day or so, someone moved the page and renamed it to 1993 Aurora, Colorado shooting ... without a comma after the word "Colorado". The comma is correct and should be there. I tried to "undo" that recent edit. But Wikipedia did not allow me to do so. It said something about "special protection" or the need for an administrator or some such. Please advise. The pertinent Wikipedia policy is WP:MOS#Commas. See the fourth bullet point, where it discusses "geographical references". Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 04:06, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- This is the MOS policy (WP:MOS#Commas):
- In geographical references that include multiple levels of subordinate divisions (e.g., city, state/province, country), a comma separates each element and follows the last element unless followed by other punctuation.

Very short stubs?
Hi everyone, I'd like to know if the community is in favour of accepting pretty short but well-sourced articles. An example could be Bryan Pelé. Would these stubs be likely draftified? Thanks. TLOM (The Lord of Math) (Message) 09:19, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- Any article where the consensus is that it satisfies the necessary notability guideline and core Wikipedia policies such as verifiability, and cannot reasonably be merged into a larger article should always be kept, no matter its length. So, usually, stubs like the example you mentioned will be kept in mainspace. (There may be fierce disputes over how high the bar for notability should be set, but so long as the article meets it, it should be kept). – Teratix ₵ 10:05, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- Teratix, so are pages that are "presumed to be notable" (e.g. they satisfy WP:NFOOTY) but undersourced and short also be accepted? Thanks. TLOM (The Lord of Math) (Message) 10:12, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- This is a question that frequently crops up in policy disputes and AfDs. The important thing to know is that NFOOTY is the type of topic-specific notability guideline that only provides presumed notability (rather than guaranteed notability like, for example, WP:NPROF), and thus if there is consensus at AfD that the article fails GNG, it will be deleted. NFOOTY is a rule of thumb designed to prevent likely-notable subjects from quick deletion, and does not replace GNG. For more information, read the introduction and FAQs of sports notability. – Teratix ₵ 10:22, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Create a Wikipedia page for CD PROJEKT RED studio.
CD PROJEKT RED studio currently don't have a separate Wikipedia page. They only have a subsection in CD PROJEKT's (their parent company) page. So as one of the best and leading studios in gaming industry I think they should have a separate Wikipedia page. Even smaller game studios have their own Wikipedia pages..So I think CD PROJEKT RED deserve more than a subsection in their parents' page. Is it right?
Are "Early life" and "Career" sections important for any wikipedia article? Is it right to remove "Early life" and "Career" section of any wikipedia article? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.166.222 (talk) 09:33, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- These matters should be decided on a case-by-case basis; sections on a subject's early life and career are common and usually appropriate, but not always. For example, if an article is extremely short and there would only be a sentence or two in an "early life" section, it should be merged with a larger section. If you are inquiring about a specific article, could you provide a link? – Teratix ₵ 10:10, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

- Georgia Steel says she was in All at Sea (TV series) and is educated as an actress. That's enough. I haven't seen her but if she has been in a bunch of different "reality" shows then I bet she also uses acting skills there. She is also called actress by reliable sources, e.g. [9]. Request to repair a BLP page
Can someone with reverting privileges fix this page of an athlete: Oliver Bradwell? All material about his career was removed and replaced with content about a crime he was convicted for. This crime appears to be real and sourced here: https://www-1.kansas.com/news/local/crime/article42750075.html, in a 2015 Wichita Eagle story that describes him as a "documented gang member" and says nothing about him being a sprinter. Oddly, the same newspaper wrote a positive article about his aspirations to go to the Olympics just one year before: https://www-1.kansas.com/sports/article1147371.html, and he is described as the same age, so it's pretty clear he's the same person. The reason I'm asking for help is because I think this should be reverted and the info about the crime added again rather than me just copying and pasting the removed material from the history. For your reference I am sending links of his work. But this information is not complete. In order to know his contribution to the Marathi literature, I want to create a Wikipedia page. https://www.aathavanitli-gani.com/Geetkar/Suryakant_Khandekar https://www.marathisrushti.com/articles/marathi-poet-suryakant-khandekar/
I hope you will grant me permission.
Thanking you,

- K.swarooa, because you are his daughter, you have a conflict of interest, and thus should not create the page yourself. However, if you are aware of published information about your father, please visit Requested articles and add him and information about where to find published information about him to the section on poets. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:47, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
Splitting an article with a double-barreled title
Bit of an unusual split situation here: I separated Tutusius umlambo and Umzantsia amazana into two separate genus articles Tutusius and Umzantsia. Now what does one do with original article, which bundles both names? Redirecting to one genus or the other (as implemented right now) is a little strange, and having this double title sit there can only mess up search results. I would suggest deleting the redirect, but that would destroy the original text attribution, which is certainly needed after the split. So - keep as redirect to one of the two split targets? Or delete & histmerge? Is there a standard for this kind of situation? --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 16:54, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- (...probably should have moved it to one of the genus names w/o leaving a redirect, then split. Too late now :/ --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 17:22, 27 March 2020 (UTC))
- Disambiguation page? ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 17:41, 27 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Elmidae: It seems poorly suited for a disambiguation page . A move would have been better. I will make a history merge to Tutusius, delete Tutusius umlambo and Umzantsia amazana, and make new edit summaries to explain the split. Please don't edit any of the three pages until I'm done. - Done. The two articles can now be edited normally. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:58, 27 March 2020 (UTC)

Can I edit the article about a company I work in?
Wikipedia has an article about a company I work in. The article is relatively small, just a couple of paragraphs. Can I expand the article, adding more information about history, services, etc., provided that all the edits serve informational purposes as I keep the tone neutral and marketing free while also giving more context to the article by adding helpful internal links to other Wikipedia pages?
