Perri 6 changed his name to Perri 6 around 1990ish while he was working for NCVO. He said he liked the idea of being listed as "6, P" in academic papers!

He has achieved this ambition many times over, and is currently Professor of Social Policy at Nottingham Trent University's School of Social Sciences [see http://www.ntu.ac.uk/research/school_research/social/staff/16641.html for further detail].

6 worked for the Demos, a left leaning think tank in the 1990s.
