Manish Borundia is an Indian film actor from Bangalore who has appeared in Lead and Supporting roles in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada films.
Career
Born and brought up in Chennai, Manish began a modelling career while managing his father's business, an established Model coordinator hand picked him for his Smile, Eyes and height..henceforth he regularly appeared in plenty Commercials and Music videos. He became acquainted and shared a friendship with Ultimate Star Ajith Kumar during their time as models, and often visited the actor during his film shoots.[1] Ajith requested Manish to play a minor acting role in Amarkalam (1999) after the original actor did not turn up, and thus Manish made his first on-screen appearance. In the early 2000s, Manish continued to portray supporting roles in Tamil films, often as the lead actor's friends, and notably appeared in S. J. Surya's Kushi (2000), Saran's Parthen Rasithen (2000), Gautham Menon's Minnale (2001) and Jeeva's 12B (2001).[1][2][3][4]
Manish then signed on to appear in the lead role of P. C. Sreeram's Vaanam Vasappadum (2004) and was attached to the project for six months, before being dropped due to his strong Hindi accent. The role was eventually taken by Karthik Kumar. Manish starred in his first lead role through the Kannada film Jootata (2004), appearing alongside Dhyan and Richa Pallod. For the project, he took up the stage name of Akash, though the film did not perform well commercially and received negative reviews from critics. But Manish was appreciated for his comic timing. After the movies disappointment he left Overseas for Job and career growth to take care of his dependant family.[5] On his return to India he signed His second Kannada film, Nannusire, also under performed commercially but Manish's role was described as "short, sweet and attractive."[6] He also portrayed a character in Arjun's Tamil and Telugu bilingual film, Madrasi (2006). As his acting career failed to take off, Manish took up a job in Hong Kong before moving to Bengaluru to continue looking after his family's jewellery business.[1]
In 2019, he made a comeback through Jagan Shakti's Hindi drama film Mission Mangal, based on the life of scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who contributed to the Mars Orbiter Mission. Featuring among an ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, Manish appeared in a supporting role of an ISRO HR employee.[1][7]
Personal life
Started taking responsibilities of family at an early age of 16, Manish was a matured and responsible boy of the family. He took over his father's loss making company and turned it profitable. Along this journey South India's leading Model Coordinator set her eyes on his looks, Smile and eyes and offered him his first commercial Ad in 1999 for 5k per day. Seeing the money is exactly his one months house expense he grabbed this opportunity and thus he realised his hidden talent of acting. Ever since then he has been a house hold face of South Indian TV. Having family to take care he chose Business as his main money earning source and turned Films as hobbies till Luck strikes his once again. Married Anita Lunia in 2015 which his family selected for him and now has opened a Luxury Kids clothing store in Bangalore known as Beautiful Mess in Kumarapark west, Bangalore
