Rebecca Win (Template:Lang-my, pronounced [jèbɛʔka̰ wɪ́ɰ̃]; born May Hnin Nu (Template:My [mè n̥ɪ́ɴ nṵ]) on 15 February 1986) is a Burmese singer and former model. She is considered one of the most successful Burmese female singers. Rebecca Win is one of the judges in a major televised singing competition Eain Mat Sone Yar (Where dreams meet) and also in Myanmar's Got Talent, a televised talent show competition.[1]
Biography
One of four siblings, Win was born May Hnin Nu to a Burmese father and a Kachin mother. moved to Yangon when she was just six months old. Win converted to Christianity while she joined the church choir at age six. As of 2006, she was a final year Japanese major at the University of Foreign Languages, Yangon.
Win was first noticed when she entered Yangon-based City FM Radio's Music Idol contest in 2004.
She began a relationship with a businessman and medical professional who is Dr. Kaung Kyaw Swe. They were married in Judson Church in Yangon for traditional wedding on May 4 2013, and also Sedona Hotel Yangon, on May 10, 2013, and concluded a no-fault divorce in the beginning year of 2020.
She was announced to Media on 5 April 2020, she is taking rest from the professional life of music and model and requested to all not to call her as Rebecca Win of professional name. Myanmar Times Daily Newspaper (Volume 4: No-96) Issue on 05/04/2020.
