Ignoring a fan - removed
The following passage appears in the article: "Collette was witnessed ignoring a handicapped fan after a performance of this show. When a friend of the wheelchair-bound man approached Miss Collette for an autograph for his friend, she glanced over at the man in the chair and turned away, ignoring him. At the time, there were a mere 5 people waiting, so she was not imposed upon. The fan had flown in specifically to see the show and attempt to meet Miss Collette."
- There are no sources cited for this, and is decidedly not NPOV. I don't know if it happened or not, but such a claim should be backed up, as it gets rather close to defamation of Ms Collette's character. I'm removing it, but if someone can source it, perhaps it could be reinstated at a later date. --HillbillyProfane (talk) 20:27, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
- She's allowed to ignore any fan she pleases, surely? Piano non troppo (talk) 07:29, 15 February 2009 (UTC)
- I suppose so, but that's not really the point. I removed it because it's biased and unsourced. I don't know whether it happened or not, but either way, is not really relevant to the artice. This isn't meant to be a dissertation on Collette's character. If it had been reported in the media, perhaps it might be relevant. Who knows what the circumstances were? Either way, it's not sourced, so I removed it.--HillbillyProfane (talk) 09:54, 25 February 2010 (UTC)
Birthplace
Currently, the fact that Toni Collette was born in Blacktown is being "claimed" on the article Blacktown, New South Wales - which is about the suburb the CBD is in. I guess that Blacktown Hospital is in the CBD, but when Toni was born did her parents live in the City of Blacktown or the much smaller, more retail-oriented, suburb with the same name?
Thanks!--Garrie 05:43, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Howard
Wasn't she also infamously quoted as saying that if John Howard wins the next (2004) election, she'll cut her wrists?
WikiProject class rating

Film
Apparently shes in a new musical film starring as a secretary. She is starring alongside Natalie Gauci, Delta Goodrem and Missy Higgins. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.166.109.89 (talk) 06:42, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
Is there any reason that her role in About a Boy as disorganised mother, co-starring with Hugh Grant and Nicholas Hoult, is not mentioned explicitly ? 91.125.101.119 (talk) 09:28, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
"... thrillers such as Shaft..."
I think Shaft is not a thriller. Maybe "action/drama" will be better in this case? Thanks 193.28.155.226 (talk) 16:06, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Birthplace
Since when was Blacktown in Sydney's north-west? From someone born and raised in Blacktown, I can assure you it is not! It's probably the most central of the western suburbs, so that's why I've amended the text. Cattona (talk) 11:30, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Her name is not Antonia
"But Wikipedia also claims my real name is Antonia, which is absolutely not true." http://www.out.com/movies/2015/10/26/toni-collette-talks-skinny-dipping-gay-fandom --84.44.179.24 (talk) 11:10, 27 October 2015 (UTC)
- It's not really Wikipedia's fault. So many so called "reliable sources" report her birth name as Antonia. Do a Google and Google Books search and you will see. I could never find a source before this where she actually confirmed whether her birth name is Antonia, so it's good that she has mentioned it. If it hasn't been removed already, then someone should remove it. On another note, her surname is actually Collett, and Collette is a stage name, and a lot of sources say her birth name is Antonia Collette. Melonkelon (talk) 04:42, 29 October 2015 (UTC)
- Also posting this source that confirms that Collette is a stage name. Her birth name is Collett. "Mum is Judy Collett, who worked for a courier firm, while her dad, Bob, was a truck driver. Toni added back the extra "e" in Collette, which her grandfather had removed, because she decided, at age 14, that it sounded better as a stage name." This info should probably be incorporated into the article. Melonkelon (talk) 21:31, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

Birth date
I don't believe it is a good idea to add her full DOB, per WP:DOB. The source provided is not reliable, and I think we should err on the side of caution. As this is a WP:BLP issue, I will be removing it. - Chris.sherlock (talk) 05:16, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- I posted the following at the user's talkpage but an edit conflict prevented me placing it here.
- @Chris.sherlock: In what way is it a BLP violation to provide d.o.b.? Consider WP's policy, "Wikipedia includes full names and dates of birth that have been widely published by reliable sources, or by sources linked to the subject such that it may reasonably be inferred that the subject does not object to the details being made public." The subject provided birth date (and other details) for SBS-TV's Who Do You Think You Are? (see first ref in article). The birth date is widely published by reliable sources.
- Why add the Categories 20th-Century Australian women and 21st-Century Australian women? These are already covered by 20th-century Australian actresses and 21st-century Australian actresses respectively.
- I have reverted both of these edits. If you wish to discus the matter reply here.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:11, 19 April 2020 (UTC)05:31, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- The response below is transcluded from his talkpage.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:31, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- That's hardly a reliable source, just because she said it on Who Do You Think You Are, she may have said it wrongly. At any rate, I feel we should not include the DOB, only the year per "err on the side of caution and simply list the year". - Chris.sherlock (talk) 05:14, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- "may have said it wrongly" Did you see the programme? In what way is that source not reliable? I disagree with your interpretation of WP:DOB and of WP:RS.
- You have not explained why you readded the unnecessary Categories, which are covered by the existing ones.
- You have not explained why you deleted a reference for a role in a TV series.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:31, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- It's a non-diffusing category, it is being used and is intended to be allowed in the manner you seem to be objecting to. The source you refer to is definitely not a reliable source, and erring on the side of caution it has been removed. - Chris.sherlock (talk) 05:34, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- I still disputed your repeated assertion that this source is not reliable: can you provide some evidence other than your opinion? Also other reliable sources have provided the d.o.b.
- You have not explained why you deleted a reference for a role in a TV series.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:31, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- At least you returned the deleted reference for the TV role.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:46, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- I did. - Chris.sherlock (talk) 06:06, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- At least you returned the deleted reference for the TV role.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 05:46, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
- Is Encyclopædia Britannica reliable enough? see here.
- Is The Sydney Morning Herald/The Sun-Herald reliable enough? see ref [2].
- Is AllMovie reliable enough? see ref [19].
These and ref [1] provide the same date. They support my claim that her birth date is widely published and hence does not contravene WP:BLP.shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:27, 19 April 2020 (UTC)
