Legislators in several U.S. states have pushed changes to state laws regarding naloxone co-prescribing. Examples include:

  • Illinois. In the state senate, SB3659 (introduced in February 2020) would require providers to offer a naloxone hydrochloride prescription to patients at risk of overdosing from opiate prescriptions or opiate street drugs. The bill would penalize or sanction doctors and providers who did not comply.[1]
