History
- November 12, 1912: Established as Apostolic Prefecture of Lindi from the Apostolic Vicariate of Dar-es-Salaam
- December 15, 1927: Advanced as Diocese of Lindi
- December 23, 1931: Demoted as Territorial Abbacy of Peramiho
- February 6, 1969: Promoted as Diocese of Songea
