Arfa Karim Randhawa (Urdu: عارفہ کریم), a girl from the city of Multan in Pakistan, who in 2005 at the age of 9, became one of the youngest Microsoft Certified Professionals (MCPs) in the world. The same year, she was invited to visit the Microsoft headquarters in Washington and to meet with Bill Gates, former CEO and Chief Software Architect of the corporation.

Arfa was introduced to computers when she was 6 years old, yet she managed to gather significant amount of information to pass through the Microsoft standards. What is worthy of note here is that Arfa prepared for her actual certification examinations during her four month summer break from her school.

From appearances at award ceremonies to affairs like the Microsoft Pakistan Developer Conference, she now fancies a celebrity-like status throughout the nation.

Awards and achievements

Arfa is hailed across Pakistan as a role model for small children. The Mir Khalil-ur-Rehman Foundation or the MKRF working with Microsoft, Pakistan awarded Arfa with the Shabash award for her achievements and arranged for her a trip to the Microsoft Redmond Headquarters in the USA to personally meet up with the company's founder Bill Gates.
