Dermstore is a skin care and beauty e-commerce site in the United States.[3] It is a subsidiary of Target Corporation which sells skin care and hair care products.

History

Dermstore was founded by dermatologist Craig Kraffert in 1999.[4] In 2012, the company expanded from distributing professional skin care, to consumer cosmetics brands.[5]

Dermstore opened its flagship store in Hermosa Beach, California, on March 19, 2012.[6] The sole brick-and-mortar store carries a retail selection of products found on its website, and a day spa offering facial treatments.

In early 2013, hairstylist Harry Josh launched a product line with Dermstore as the exclusive retailer.[7]

On August 6, 2013, Target Corporation acquired the Dermstore Beauty Group.[8] Following the transaction closing, Dermstore became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Target which operates as a separate entity under its online name, Dermstore.com.

In July 2019, Dermstore partnered with the American Academy of Dermatology to provide skin care education.[9][10]

Criticisms

Review sites show numerous complaints regarding practices that are misleading. The Better Business Bureau, in particular, has complaints of stolen credit card information.[11]

Brands

Dermstore's product offering consists of over 350 brands[12]

In 2008, Dermstore launched a subscription service called BeautyFIX. The monthly subscription service offers beauty boxes containing skin care, hair care and makeup products for a fee.[13]
