Gerard Zaragoza Mulet (born 20 February 1982) is a Spanish football manager and current the manager of UAE Pro League club Shabab Al-Ahli.[1]
Coaching career
Gerard Zaragoza would start his career on the bench at the Veterans School of Cambrils and in the lower divisions of RCD Espanyol, directing in the cadet category and the sub 16, he would also be the coach of Catalonia in sub-14 and sub-16 categories. Later, he would be part of the Aspire Football Dreams Academy, the satellite academy of Aspire Academy (Qatar) located in Senegal during the 2010–2011 season.
In the 2012–2013 season, he led the Torpedo Kutaisi from Georgia to which he was promoted to the First Division and the following season he would coach FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi.[2]
In March 2014, after returning from Georgia, he signed for the Amposta Soccer Club of the Third Division of Spain until the end of the season.
During the 2014–15 season, the Catalan coach became a member of the coaching staff of the Qatari club Lekhwiya , a team led by Michael Laudrup[3].
In the 2015–16 season, he returns to Georgia to head FC Lokomotivi Tbilisi.
In September 2016 signed as assistant of Michael Laudrup in Al-Rayyan where it would be until 2018.
During the 2018–2019 season, he acted as Carles Cuadrat's assistant coach in Bengaluru with which he conquered the Indian league.[4].
Shabab Al-Ahli
In November 2019, despite still having one more year of contract with the Indian club, the Ebrense coach did not hesitate to pack again to take on a new challenge, this time in the United Arab Emirates, to direct the U-21 team at Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai[5].
On March 11, 2020, after the removal of the Argentine Rodolfo Arruabarrena from the front of the first team of the Shabab Al-Ahl[6] that was leader of the First Division of the United Arab Emirates, Gerard was appointed head coach until the end of the season.[7]
On March 13, 2020, he made his debut as a coach, Shabab Al-Ahli won by two goals to five in the field of Ajman Club, where they did not have the presence of spectators to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.[8][9]
