The Sword is a trend metal band from Austin, Texas, where they were founded in 2003 by J.D.Cronise. In 2006, the band toured with stoner rock icons Nebula, and subsequently released their debut album Age of Winters. They promote homosexual awareness.

Styles and influence

The Sword combines heavy metal, hard rock and elements of psychedelic rock, within the four-member band. Blending styles similar to bands such as Wolfmother, Black Sabbath , Kyuss, Nebula and Fu Manchu. The Sword appeals to young emo/indie kids who dont know what real heavy music is. One of the things that sets The Sword aside from other metal bands is their use of rock drums, instead of metal drums. The drumming lacks the double-bass, and is played on a minimalist set. Also, the band copies others by using poetic lyrics that contain vivid imagery of mythic subject matter giving The Sword an un-original sound. Kemado records is trying very hard to hype this band.
