Paolo Petrocelli is an Italian manager, academic and journalist. He is the Founder and President of EMMA for Peace.[1]

Education

He received a PhD in Economics of Culture from IULM University of Milan,[2] and an Executive MBA at SDA Bocconi School of Management.He holds a Diploma in Violin Performance from the Conservatory of Music Santa Cecilia, a BA in Literature, Music and Entertainment from Sapienza University of Rome, a BA (Hons) Music from Middlesex University of London.[3]

Cultural Diplomacy and Music Diplomacy

As cultural and music diplomacy ambassador,[4] he serves in institutional roles to forge bonds through music[5] in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and the US.[6]

He is the Founder and President of EMMA for Peace,[7] an international non-governmental organization for the promotion of music diplomacy[8] between Europe and the Middle East,[9] and Co-Founder and Honorary president of the Italian Youth Association for UNESCO,[10]the largest youth organization in the UNESCO system, of which he served as president from 2014 to 2019.[11]

Since 2019, he serves as cultural advisor for Coldplay.[12]

Since 2020, he is an official member of Forbes Nonprofit Council.[13]

Board of Directors

Former Member of the Youth Committee of the International Music Council[14] and of the European Music Council, in 2013, at 29 years old, he has been nominated as one youngest members ever elected to the Board of Directors at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma (Rome Opera House).[15] In 2015 Fondazione Monte dei Paschi di Siena appointed him as a member of the board of directors of Accademia Musicale Chigiana in Siena and the Italian Minister of Education,Stefania Giannini, nominated him as a member of the board of directors of Conservatorio di Musica Benedetto Marcello di Venezia.[16] He is an honorary member of the board of directors of Armenian State Symphony Orchestra.[17]

Academic

Petrocelli is a professor of cultural and music management at the Luiss Business School,John Cabot University,[18] Business School of Il Sole 24 Ore, Accademia Teatro alla Scala,[19] Conservatorio Antonio Buzzolla di Adria.[20] He has been a Visiting Fellow at Yale University[21] and a Visiting Researcher at MIT Media Lab of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is founder and of Opera Futura, the first Italian independent observatory on the future of opera.[22] He is author of musicological essays[23] and publications on cultural economics[24] and a contributor for Forbes[25] and Huffington Post.[26]

He is a TEDx Speaker.[27]
