List of Formula One Grands Prix

The following is a complete list of World Championship races that have been a part of the FIA World Championship since its inception in 1950. Major auto racing events are often named Grands Prix (the plural form of Grand Prix), a tradition dating back to the first decade of the 20th century and the Grand Prix motor racing of the 1920s and 1930s. However, the terms "Formula One Grand Prix", "Formula One race", and "World Championship race" have not always been synonymous – see Formula One#Distinction between Formula One and World Championship races for a detailed explanation.
As of the 2020 Austrian Grand Prix, 1,019 World Championship races have been held, including the Indianapolis 500 races which were a part of the World Championships from 1950 until 1960 despite not being named a Grand Prix.
As of 2020[update], a World Championship Grand Prix must have a scheduled race distance of at least 305 km (190 mi), with the exception of the Monaco Grand Prix (which must have a scheduled race distance of at least 260 km (160 mi)), and no race can run for more than 2 hours.[1]
