Raeesah Begum binte Farid Khan (born 1994) is a Singaporean activist[1] and politician.

Career

Raeesah has been an activist since 17 years old, mainly focusing on refugee issues.[1] She is also the founder of the Reyna Movement.[1][2] Prior to entering politics, she studied economics and marketing at Murdoch University.[2]

In 2020 election, she contested for Sengkang GRC under the banner of the Workers' Party. She is also the youngest candidate of the party.[2] On 11 July, she was elected to the Parliament.[3]

Controversy

Shortly before the 2020 election, Raeesah faced criticisms due to her comment related to racial and religious issues.[4] According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), she wrote a comment that the country's law is discriminating citizens while rich Chinese and white people were treated differently.[4] She later apologised for the remark.[4]
