Lucky Spencer, (full name Lucas Lorenzo Spencer, Jr.) is a fictional character on the American television series General Hospital. The character is a resident of Port Charles and is son to supercouple Luke and Laura Spencer. The character has been played by actors Jonathan Jackson (1993-1999), Jacob Young (2000-2003) and Greg Vaughan (2003-present).

Character background

Lucky first came to Port Charles as an adventurous 10-year-old with his parents, who had raised him on the run from the mob boss Frank Smith. Lucky had been taught to be unusually self-reliant as a result of this unusual upbringing. As a teenager, he dealt with the revelation that he had an older half-brother, Nikolas Cassadine, that his mother never told her family about. The Cassadines were arch-enemies of the Spencer family and Lucky had been raised to hate them, but he eventually developed a close bond with his half-brother Nikolas, and the lie ultimately destroyed his parents' marriage.

As a teenager, Lucky's trust in his parents was further damaged when he learned that his father had raped his mother before their marriage. His girlfriend Elizabeth Webber was also raped, but Lucky was supportive of her in its aftermath. They ended their relationship for a time but ultimately reunited and married, and Lucky adopted Elizabeth's son Cameron, whose father is the deceased Zander Smith.

Lucky joined the Port Charles Police Force, much to the dismay of his father Luke.

In the current storyline, Lucky is battling an addiction to pain killers after he received a severe back injury in the line of duty. Maxie Jones, who had a crush on Lucky, has been supplying him with pain pills, has slept with him multiple times, and is trying (successfully) to break up his marriage to Elizabeth, who, after learning of his affair and the multiple times he lied to her, has left him and is currently living with her adopted grandmother, Audrey Hardy. When Lucky learned that Elizabeth was pregnant, he assumed that the baby is his (Elizabeth does not yet know if it is his or Jason Morgan's), and this prompted him to go into rehab, though Elizabeth still insists that the relationship is over.
