Reference style

If you are going to use this reference style, you should consider using {{Harv}} templates (or its derivatives such as {{Harvnb}}), which create a link from the short footnote to the full citation in the "Sources" section. The way the article is currently written is quite awkward; for instance, "Gunnel et al." goes to a footnote that merely says "Gunnel et al.", and a reader not realizing there is a Sources section below would be wondering what the full bibliographical citation is.

Recommended methods?

I seriously question the need to have a recommendation on what type and gauge of rope to use in this article. Does the suicide by handgun article recommend .45 caliber instead of .22 LR rounds? Does the self-immolation article recommend using petrol rather than kerosene? Link to helplines?

That would definitely be helpful and informative. Cold as it sounds, it is not Wikipedia's mandate to provide a directory of links to sources. In this article, I added a link to List of suicide crisis lines under the See also secion.
