Shyamal Chakraborty was an Indian politician and was a member of the Rajya Sabha from 2008 to 2014. He was the transport minister of West Bengal from 1982 to 1996. He was also a member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly from 1981 to 1996.[1][2][3][4] He died on August 6, 2020 from cardiac arrest after being diagnosed with COVID-19, aged 76.
