Hello, Hurrygane,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username TheLongTone and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid C.F. to Juventus F.C. should be deleted. Your comments are welcome over Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid C.F. to Juventus F.C. .

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|TheLongTone}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

Thanks,

TheLongTone (talk) 15:21, 31 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Templates with commented out categories

I noticed you created these three templates with commented out categories: Template:HIFK sections, Template:Turun Palloseura sections, and Template:Ilves sections. It seems likely this is not what you meant to do. Retro (talk | contribs) 23:28, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Never mind, it appears you're currently inactive from Wikipedia. I will handle the comments myself. Retro (talk | contribs) 23:37, 23 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked for sockpuppetry

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Hurrygane (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

This matter was resolved peacefully after a thorough investigation on the Finnish Wikipedia. Despite five years of experience, I admit to being unfamiliar with Wikipedia guidelines regarding sock puppetry, but do not deny any wrongdoing. It is true that I have used multiple accounts for constructive contributions. However, I must say I never intended to breach Wikipedia's policies. I understand what I am blocked for, and I will not do it again. I'd like to proceed with using my alternative accounts by marking them with Template:User alternative account banner. I would be happy to deactivate this account as per Wikipedia:Clean start. Thank you very much for your consideration. Hurrygane (talk) 22:12, 8 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

I can see your accounts having fake interactions here. Votestacking here. Tag-team edit warring here. This just seems to be run-of-the-mill abusive sock-puppeting - not "constructive" or unintentional. Kuru (talk) 03:03, 9 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Hurrygane (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

I would argue that my case wasn't "run-of-the-mill abusive sock-puppeting", as claimed above.

As per Wikipedia:Clean start, I practically stopped using this account in November 2018. This was after one potentially promising article I created was removed from the Finnish Wikipedia — simultaneously with me being stripped of my pending changes reviewer rights — following a white lie and poor damage control that followed. For that reason, I started afresh by creating four new accounts each of which had a specific "role" assigned to them.

As for the aforementioned incident of fake interactions, I must say that I tried to edit the article Matthijs De Ligt by Hurrygane (the only editor with the extended confirmed user access level), but my revision was undone due to lack of references. Hence I thought that the best course of action would be to return to the starting point and to request edits via new user whose focus is/was on adding references. New user being Ref-checking. I thought that I had tagged the user that had had previously reversed the edit, but since they, possibly unintentionally, ignored my request, I once more deployed Hurrygane. (As for the second request, The one who creates pages got a new section out of it. As silly as it sounds, before its deactivation TOWCP's onus was to take part in AfDs, to move pages and to create articles, redirects, sections, and talk pages.)

It was an obnoxious mistake. I deeply regret it.

As I mentioned before, I was absolved of intentional wrongdoing after a thorough investigation on the Finnish Wikipedia. I have been cooperative with authorities here as well. For full transparency, I'd like to point out that I stacked votes on deletion discussion about Transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid C.F. to Juventus F.C. too. Despite five years of experience, I admit to being unfamiliar with Wikipedia guidelines regarding sock puppetry. I do not deny any wrongdoing. I am, and always have been, a fool, and I realize that my actions eroded the sanctity/reliablility of this website.

I would like to point out that my contributions, for the most part, have been constructive. This claim is supported by data presented by Toolforge, according to which, only 6.34 percent of my edits have been deleted (the quotient decreases to 5.80 without TOWCP). After I semi-retired this account in 2018, Dawid2009 wondered why I did that even though "my edits were good".

I have already refrained from making any edits for four months. I understand what I am blocked for, and I will not do it again. I cannot stress this enough. (That cliché disgusts me but it's true.) I'm here to build an encyclopedia. (More on this below.) I'd like to help Wikipedia to improve. I'd like to make it less vulnerable.

What constructive edits do I want to make if unblocked?

Decline reason:

I agree that this was "run-of-the-mill abusive sock-puppeting". The standard offer is six months. Part of the standard offer is proving that you can follow simple instructions, such as "wait six months". If you can't follow a rule as simple as that, we have no reason to believe that you will follow "don't abuse multiple accounts". NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 07:56, 6 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. This user is asking that their block be reviewed:

Hurrygane (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

This is the day I've been waiting for. After two rejected unblock requests in the first four months, I'm now applying for standard offer. For full disclosure, I'd like to say that during these six months I've been active in the Finnish Wikipedia. That technically should not affect or be detrimental to my request here. I must say, however, that since this incident took place, I haven't caused any issues there, and I've even been given new rights. I do hope that you will see this as an encouraging sign going forward. Hurrygane (talk) 04:48, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Notes:

  • In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
  • Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:

{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=This is the day I've been waiting for. What account did you use to edit Finnish Wikipedia as this one doesn't seem to have edited there since 2018. only (talk) 11:52, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have used my sockpuppets. Using alternative accounts there is not wrong per se, only if it is ill-intentioned. I was able to convince the Finnish administrators that this was not the case. Hurrygane (talk) 13:31, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Inquiry

@Kuru and Bbb23: Sorry to bother you. Is there a way to suggest edits and refs in Wikipedia, even if I am blocked? This inquiry is not an official unblock request. (It's just that editing Wikipedia is a hobby for me. It means more to me than my own day job does.) Hurrygane (talk) 20:15, 9 February 2020 (UTC) [reply]

Note: This comment is a repost.
By the way, you ought to block User:SeJokaLoiArtikkelinKielivähemmistötSuomessa as well: it is one of my alternative accounts. Hurrygane (talk) 16:16, 14 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking request

I have been blocked indefinitely for sock puppetry, and User:Kuru has reviewed and declined my (first) unblock request. However, they seem to have overlooked User:SeJokaLoiArtikkelinKielivähemmistötSuomessa which is one of my alternative accounts. I request that that account be blocked as well. Hurrygane (talk) 09:14, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Okay. I have removed your edit requests; while blocked, you can only use this page to request unblock. You cannot use it to edit by proxy. 331dot (talk) 10:09, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. Hurrygane (talk) 10:18, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Question for administrator

Is there a way to suggest edits and refs in Wikipedia, even if I am blocked? This inquiry is not an official unblock request. Hurrygane (talk) 10:18, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No. If you want to edit or otherwise suggest edits, you must make a successful unblock request. You cannot request that others make edits for you, or create additional accounts, as that would defeat the purpose of the block. 331dot (talk) 10:20, 19 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]
