Lego Monkie Kid is a Lego theme based on Monkey King and Journey to the West, licensed from The Lego Group. The theme was first introduced in 2020.
Background
The theme inspired by Monkey King and Journey to the West. Monkie Kid is set in modern times, incorporating large cities with skyscrapers, as well as vehicles, large mechanized suits and other futuristic technology.
The main focus of the Monkie Kid and his friends, battling against the Demon Bull King and his Bull Clones Army[1].
Characters
- Monkie Kid: A young noodle shop delivery boy, who find the long-lost staff and battling against the ancient demons.
- Mei: Monkie Kid's friend and the descendants of the legendary White Dragon Horse.
- Sandy: The toughest soldier.
- Pigsy: Owner and head chef of Pigsy's Noodle shop
- Monkey King: The wise king vanished on his magical cloud in centuries ago. He is equipped with his staff, Ruyi Jingu Bang, which includes two symmetrical light-sabre handles in gold.
- Demon Bull King: A giant half-bull and half-machine who wants to dominate the world.
- Red Son: Demon Bull King and Princess Iron Fan's son. An evil genius who build diabolical weapons.
- Princess Iron Fan: Demon Bull King's wife and Red Son's mother. She is equipped with her magic fan.
- Bull Clones: The army of mechanical bull robots, led by General Ironclad.
Sets
In 2020, it was announced that the first wave sets were be released in 16th May 2020. The 8 sets are White Dragon Horse Bike (set number: 80006), Iron Bull Tank (set number: 80007), Monkie Kid's Cloud Jet (set number: 80008), Pigsy's Food Truck (set number: 80009), Demon Bull King (set number: 80010), Red Son's Inferno Truck (set number: 80011), Monkey King Warrior Mech (set number: 80012) and Monkie Kid's Team Secret HQ (set number: 80013)[1]. In addition to 1 polybag set have been released as promotions.
Later, the second wave sets were be released in 1st August 2020. The 3 sets are Sandy's Speedboat (set number: 80014), Monkie Kid's Cloud Roadster (set number: 80015) and The Flaming Foundry (set number: 80016). Also including the additional set released as a sub-brand of the Lego Brickheadz theme.
