Professor Prasert Thongcharoen M.D. (born 2 January 1933) - is a well-known virology, specialised in the field of AIDS, HIV, Bird Flu and many other diseases. Graduated from Bernhard-Noch Institut Hamburg and the world-renowned
University of Hamburg with First Class File:PrasertThongcharoen.jpg Honour, he then started researching on virus
diseases straight after his graduation,and today, after more than 50 years of a constant around-the-clock routine, he continues to research in a field which he specialises in. His reputation was aquired both nationally and internationally during the spread of Bird Flu a few years ago. He was once called by the ousted Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra "Ai Mor" or to say it in English "That Bloody Doctor" for the cause of him exposing the spread of Bird Flu in Thailand. Dr.Prasert has been presented with many renowned awards, to name one, the B-Brown award given by the prestigious Mahidol University. He was also the Director of WHO Collaborating Centre on AIDS and Member of the WHO Expert Committee Advisory Panel on Virus Diseases. Dr.Prasert currently resides in Bangkok, Thailand but still oftenly travels for lectures and conferences all over the world.
